To learn the art of photography from real photographers.
This added Sept 2014 or 8 years after that first sentance. I have learned a lot. Don't know all, but I also like helping others as I can. Its a community.

The ratings I give to my gear. They are based on my IMO of performance/features/subjective traits (e.g. rich color) to price.

  • Rupert is the one who got me into feeding squirrels and taking a lot of pics of them, the truth. Yes a fun time a wallyworld.

  • Yes David I agree. I don't send back or take back any lens that performs well on my bodies. Also learn what the lens can and can not do. So you don't send back a perfectly fine lens. like - Oh its ...
  • I think that's part of why sales are not climbing up anymore. Really dSLRs did not explode into the mainstream until about a decade ago when the price went down and the average person could afford ...
  • Sometimes things happen so slow you don't notice immediately. Only when thinking of the past. Here is some of my thoughts about being here on DPR Pentax SLR Talk. Do you remember the weekly threads ...
  • No more guessing. I did a test with the DA50-200mm WR. Zooming out and in fast with the back pointed to my lips I feel the air coming out the back. With its tight fitting rear cap no air comes out ...
  • Your question was a very good one from the first day WR kit lens came out with the launch of the K-7. WR lens are rated or described as less resistant to the environment than Pentax DA* lens. The ...

  • ephotozine also put up a review of this lens on may 27th 2015. It very closely matches Photozones findings. ePhotozine found it to have "excellent sharpness" and Highly Recommended the lens. After ...
  • I know. My old original version of the DA55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED has always been sharp, could say tack sharp at 300mm f/5.8. It is hard to impossible to tell the difference between 300mm f/5.8 and ...
  • Replied in Piece of Junk.
I believe the SDM issue, experienced it at a camera shop! I think it is fixed, but am not sure if its fixed. I would not bet my money because I would never feel good using the lens after eight ...
  • Interesting. Whose upper management? Look at CIPA data. Its an aggregate of all companies that participate. Which is all of the common big ones we know of, Nikon, Canon, Pentax ext. The economist ...
  • I wont argue about declining profits. But some one in the USA is making some money and sales year to April 1, and can make you optimistic overall. I have known why lens dont drop in price too ...
  • Yes I think luck was not on your side. Yes I am a Pentax fan. I kept track of overall reliability for the big two for many years. I found Pentax bodies to have less overall problems. Especialy in ...
  • Yes about the speakers, KEF speakers I was not clear. I was thinking something and used a poor example. The KEF UNI Q tweeter is a whole tweeter, its own dome, surround, coil magnet, and mount, ...
  • Be warned never hold/shoot any type of gun too loose you can cause death . Get training. BTW -- jamesm007, Pentax K5, K20D http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamesm007/ http://s195.photobucket.com/albums ...
  • I shoot at least 200 rounds a month. When you hold a auto pistol to lose you may limp wrist it to fte but you can still nail it. -- jamesm007, Pentax K5, K20D http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamesm007/ ...
  • Agree, we have some things in common. I shoot pistols just for fun. As long as I hold any weapon with three dots right place, I have a nice crisp trigger pull. Even with small shake the bullet ...
  • Yes there are standards that can be used if needed, one west IP, and east (Japan) JIS. The only reason the engineer did not give the K10D (first WR camera) an IP rating is because they cannot know ...
