Do what? A6000 has eye AF

Fotoni: Yet another expensive camera with crippled 8-bit low bitrate video compression.

95MB/s (760Mbit/s) write speed cards are not expensive anymore. They can write RAW 12-bit with 1080p30 or Prores 4K 30p 10-bit 422

Blackmagic did it right for video compression. Other companies are still learning...

Even $6,000 C100 MK II only does 8 bit

10 bit video might be too much data for A7R2 (heat issues)

According Sony vide, only 7r has Leica M9 like microlenses on the sensor -- but not 7. Is that correct? DPR never mentioned this difference.

CaptureAll: Good review but you should have included the Nexus 4 and iPhone 5S.

Going slightly OT here; the main benefit (imho) is regular OTA updates, both of the above have them. All other Androids get updates when your carrier approves them, which takes months, or may never happen at all. Sure, you can root your device then put on a custom ROM but. not everyone wants or knows how to do that.

My point is hardware is good but if software is buggy or lacks a feature the updates (to the camera) my not come as quickly as the Google Nexus or iPhone devices.

Z1 is better sexier looking phone with glass on both sides. LG looks cheap next to it.

Z1 looks and feels premium. LG looks and feels like a toy.

Z1 is dust and water proof with dedicated camera button to take photos even under water. LG would
be dead if it gets wet.

So it's not as one sided as your continuous anti Z1 comments would suggest.

On Panasonic GX7 First Impressions Review article (1200 comments in total)

Panasonic were so influenced by Sony that they even copied the naming system (i,e Nexx7). Where is GX2, GX3 --- GX6? Sony inherited the naming system from Minolta where 7 series were higher end enthusiast and 5 series were lower specs than 7 Series. And Minolta also had 9 for professional cameras, i.e Minolta Maxxum 9000 (same system that Sony inherited, A900, A99, etc).

Sony bought Minolta, but I can't see why Panasonic would choose to call it 7, unless they have just decided that they are going to follow the same Minolta naming system.

In reply to:

Scott Greiff: At $4.99 a piece to add "functionality" to your camera, "Shaft" is indeed appropriate.

And you bought a camera that is never able to add more "functionality", other than buying a new model.

That's far more pathetic "shaft"

$4.99 vs $900 buying a new model

MrSkelter: This doesn't look much better than my K-01 with a FA limited lens. More testament to the Pentax than a slight to the Fuji though wow that lens is soft up close with the white flowers.

for most of those 12 months, they were selling them for pennies.

Would DPR move to using that Zeiss 50mm as a stock lens to test Sony APSC cameras in studio shots?

olypan: The X100 created huge interest from the audience. The RX1 feels like it is being pushed to death by Dpreview, whether we like it or not. OMD was grudgingly glossed over despite huge interest. I expect the next Pentax will be another fly by appraisal too.

" whether we like it or not."

semorg: 20MP? I'll pass!

If sony built this for the enthusiast market, then they missed the mark. Put the same sensor on a 10-12mp camera with much better iso performance, and I'll be talking with my wallet

The answer is to compare to Nikon 1. Same sensor size ..

http://www.imaging-resource.com/IMCOMP/COMPS01.HTM

I think the 20MP sensor does better than the 10 MP sensor, even at high ISO

In reply to:

semorg: 20MP? Why not something between 10-14mp and use the extra pixel size for better low light performance. Lame!

Have you seen IR samples?

http://www.imaging-resource.com/IMCOMP/COMPS01.HTM

Same sensor size, but high ISO, at least jpegs, look better than Nikon 1's 10 MP sensor

it blows the Olympus or Fuji for IQ .. and it's much smaller

Brian Thomas: Thanks, Richard for answering my question about the shutter sound. Interestingly, in your video presentation, your subjective statement that the shutter sound "is about average" is the most valuable piece of information for me.

Is A57, since it doesn't have a mirror, quieter or louder?

Any class 10 card should work.. But the fastest cards right now are the 95MB/s one and they are not that expensive on Amazon
