I would love to see some hi-res shots from this lens on the D800! :)
-
It should give you additional detail, but be prepared to shoot one stop down (f/8 with TC) to get the most out of it.
-
Get the 70-200 VR1. VR is very useful, more than you think.
-
That's because you only use the center of the glass, where the lens is sharpest. For ultimate sharpness across the frame, primes are the best choice on the D800.
-
On this, I totally agree with you.

It may not be designed towards landscape, but the corners are downright mushy, and never sharpen up. When paying $1600 for a lens, you'll expect it can do better. But then again, full frame digital...

I've used the VR 1 on D700 for some time, and lately on the D800. For portraits, it's absolutely stellar! A little soft at 200mm wide open, but one stop down it's pin sharp. For landscapes, I shoot...

Lots of great images there, but #8 really stands out! Love those colors!

Without a doubt, prime lenses are a must if you're looking for max IQ with the D800E. It's a bit early to tell yet, but the Sigma 35mm 1.4 should do nicely. Zeiss 21mm f2.8 and 25mm f2 are also...

Hi Robin, I've tried the Adobe Standard profile, and didn't like it very much. Colorchecker Passport and QPCard are a little expensive I think, and I don't consider the problem big enough to be...

Hello everyone, new D800 owner here. I more or less always shoot my pictures in RAW and develop them in Lightroom, have done so in all the years with my trustworthy D700 without problems. But I've...

So I was thinking about buying the 2x teleconverter for video of wildlife with my 300/4 AFS, on Nikon D800 in DX mode (gets me to 900mm). I think since it no doubt will be soft with the...

In my opinion it shows how good Lightroom 4's RAW developer is, but no doubt the D600 is the better camera, as it should be, considering the D700 is over 4 years old! Which is almost like an...

I'm guessing he used Auto-ISO. Not sure which metering mode though (Matrix, Spot etc.).
-
You can't, since AF sensivity is always at "max".
-
I use it without hesitation on my D700 all the time. Vignetting removes easily in post, resolution, contrast etc. are all top-notch! I will probably never upgrade to the VR2.
-
I'm just stating my opinion. You don't agree, fine. You tell a touching story but it really has nothing to do in this thread.

Wow, so many dull images. It makes me sad if these pictures are the best many of you have ever taken with the magnificent D700. (and also, thread title says your best image, not your 12 most recent...

I've noticed several posts showing off the amazing dynamic range of the D800, especially its ability to boost the shadows without increasing noise too much. I ran a small test with my D700 to see...
