So you are saying that the Sigma is an actual Nikon mount?  Are you using adapters?  What mount is the lens made for?  Sorry if I am missing it.

I agree.  I don't even use it for real macro, like small bugs using a tripod.  I do use the macro for a bit larger things like flowers and leaves and such, but I only get close enough to still hand...
