I think the RX100 is 100% about competing with the Canon s110, so everything possible was done to keep the camera small. Sony would only add a grip if they intended to compete with a g12/g15The...

Here is an example of dust:http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/50016597I think Sony eventually replaced the entire lens under warranty. Some people talk about turning the camera on (lens out) and...

Very cool! I wasn't sure how many / if any RX1 owners would also get an HX30, but it makes a lot of sense. While ISO1600+ shots on my HX30 won't win any awards, its enjoyable to get a recognizable...

I like the idea of the power zoom, because it is so darn compact when not in use. From there I would be looking at prices. It may or may not be better getting a kit and selling the kit lens and...

FYI, I do really like the NEX 5r (would like one even more if it was bundled with the power zoom 16-50). I would love to have it as a high IQ supplement to my HX30, and it could be really amazing...

If you don't need zoom, family portraits would be much higher quality with the NEX because of its much, much larger sensor, especially if you get a better lens. But, like any APSc camera (including...

Welcome to the confusing world of Sony hot shoes ;)The Nex5n uses an "accessory port" connection while the RX1 uses Sony's new MI (multi-interface) shoe. The NEX6 and a99 uses the MI shoe, too so...

In a users report in the "Ordered HX50" thread. After I started comparing mechanisms, the HX50's flash looks more like the non-tilting RX1 vs the tilting RX100.

My HX30 has scene selection in movie mode, too. It does not allow much control. In Auto, its fun watching the various scene icons pop up.
-
Well, that would be too easy ;)I didn't find it earlier this week on .uk, and Google only found the German one.

FYI, a German language user manual is now available for the HX50:http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4445413611/DE/index.htmlUsing Google to translate to English: (not all hot links...

Thanks. After a while, it was looking like the HX50 flash was closer to the RX1 mechanism than the RX100's great tilt flash.
-
EXIF data looked like it was full zoom and then wide.

Thanks for the samples. At least you captured more color than the early HX300 pictures.I'm interested in how you feel the operation compares (ie focus speeds, etc.

It would be nice to be proven wrong, but since Sony has been releasing the 20mp HX cameras, I don't seem them going down with the RX line. Also, Sony is not really known for making fast zoom lenses...

I agree, the Pool Ball shot is decent. It even has an OK amount of detail (instead of 100% smearing) on the felt infront of the balls.
-
The general theory suggests that RAW has more recoverable detail in highlights and shadows, which gives you much more leeway in post processing. In addition, RAW can also result in higher quality...

*short period of timeI love auto-correct ;)

The HX50 is not expected to go on sale until the end of the month. So far, we've only seen a few brief privies from some sites that have been allowed to handle a pre-release model for a shirt...

I don't think Sony ever updated the R1, so they don't have any history updating R series cameras. It seems Sony was setting up an RX10. Given the model number spacing, so who knows. If Sony does...
