Thanks. After a while, it was looking like the HX50 flash was closer to the RX1 mechanism than the RX100's great tilt flash.
-
EXIF data looked like it was full zoom and then wide.
-
Thanks for the samples. At least you captured more color than the early HX300 pictures.I'm interested in how you feel the operation compares (ie focus speeds, etc.

It would be nice to be proven wrong, but since Sony has been releasing the 20mp HX cameras, I don't seem them going down with the RX line. Also, Sony is not really known for making fast zoom lenses...

I agree, the Pool Ball shot is decent. It even has an OK amount of detail (instead of 100% smearing) on the felt infront of the balls.
-
The general theory suggests that RAW has more recoverable detail in highlights and shadows, which gives you much more leeway in post processing. In addition, RAW can also result in higher quality...

*short period of timeI love auto-correct ;)

The HX50 is not expected to go on sale until the end of the month. So far, we've only seen a few brief privies from some sites that have been allowed to handle a pre-release model for a shirt...

I don't think Sony ever updated the R1, so they don't have any history updating R series cameras. It seems Sony was setting up an RX10. Given the model number spacing, so who knows. If Sony does...

With the RX100, you are paying for great IQ in a minature package...Smaller with no performance penalty always costs more in the world of electronics. But zoom wise, its basically a prime + a kit...

You need to read up on BokehThis seems to be a good start:http://photographylife.com/bokeh-on-point-and-shoot-camerasBokeh is a function of sensor size, Aperature (lower f/ is better) distance of...

Cybershot cameras are limited to 29 minutes of video at a time. I think a dedicated camcorder would be a better option. You may want to look at Panasonic. I've heard some of their cameras do not...

The IPT-DS2 was sort of a remote control tripod that was compatible with the HX100's little brother, the HX9v:http://store.sony.com/p/Party-shot-Automatic-Photographer/en/p/IPTDS2So the HX100 might...

Agree, The EFV price is crazy for HX50 owners. It is a really, really nice EFV that makes more sense for the $2800 RX1 owners. I can't imagine too many HX50 only owners buying the EFV, but it may...

you are comparing retail to MSRP the SX260's MSRP is $350. Sony is still charging a premium, but you get better video (60p) and more zoom...

The HX9 and HX20 had the custom button, Sony just finally put it in a better area. My HX30 has a bit of a rubber thumb spot. But I do really like the full PASM , hotshoe and EV dial as real...

Right now, the only other Sony camera with the MI hotshoe AND does not have a dedicated mic input is the NEX-6 (ie the a99 and RX1 have 3.5mm mic inputs)It seemed the initial review of that mic on...

The muli connection works as a basic remote controls on some cameras. For instance the HX9v used the muli connection as a remote on the Party Dock.
-
It really depends on the results. Sony did an amazing job improving IQ slightly when they went from 16mp to 18mp, but most user reports of the 20mp HX300 are negative.Personally, I chose the Sony...

That's the more basic WX300, not the HX50
