Reading this thread I do wonder if half the posts are serious or a wind up...

Latest rumour is that the two small FF cameras will both be mini SLR designs... which left me amazed and more than a little confused.
I've waited for years for a small RF form FF camera with AF and...

You missed my point.
My point wasn't that you should aim for minimum DoF. Quite the opposite. My point was that if you're close to the subject you get thin DoF, too thin.
My point and question was...

I do wonder how shallow people want DoF to be for portraits. Personally I find that FF 50mm f2.8 gives maybe too shallow DoF, you end up with little in the DoF if you're close to the subject.
20mm...

My table doesn't have f1.7 on it but at 20mm and f2 at 2m DoF would be in the region of 20 inches. At 25mm and 2m your DoF at f1.4 would be a shade under 10 inches. Maybe a 25mm f1.4 is the way to...

I'm a fan too :D
Rokkor 24mm f2.8, 28mm f2.8, 35mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4, 85mm f2, 135mm f3.5.
Zuiko 28mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, 135mm f3.5.
Vivitar 28mm f1.9.
Sigma 50mm f2.8 Macro.

The problem with this argument (sensor size, noise) is that people always end up talking about different things and their views are so rigid that they just will not see the...

It depends what you want to do with your pictures.
If all you want is to view them on a 17" screen even a 100% crop from a 20mm lens will very probably be more than good enough but if you want to...

My biggest complaint witrh CSC's is light output from the EVF making night time shooting an eye watering PITA, so much so that I've given up.
If this one issue could be solved I'd be much happier...

Strange how this poor mans Leica will offer features that the rich mans camera doesn't.
Can anyone make a small form camera without it being lebelled a poor mans Leica?

At one time I owned a MFT camera, an APS-C DSLR and a FF DSLR and I compared the DoF characteristics and possibilities and my conclusion was that there's really nothing in it between MFT and...

“We have been very surprised,” explained Frédéric Guichard, chief scientist at DxO Labs, “to find out that some of the gain from wider lens openings seems to be offset by the present state of...

Personally I'd like larger pixels, a lower MP count and the return of true low sensitivities, ISO 100 and 50 please.
I know that none of those things will happen :(

No, the shutter speed of 1/8000 doesn't lead to a rising base ISO. I believe that the cause of the rising base ISO is more to do with the huge number of teeny tiny pixels and the electronics around...

I'm happy with lots of aspects of MFT but there's two things I wish they'd improve...
1. I'd really like to shoot at wide apertures in good light and sadly increasing the shutter speed to 1/8000 is...

I'm very happy with the results I get from Zuiko and Rokkor lenses. Focusing with the magnified view in the EVF is a doddle if you have the time.

If we're looking at the same picture it's not a fake, it only looks fake because the bloke who posted it removed the background presumably to protect the source.

Why care what trolls and people at camera clubs who should really know better say?
The Sony Z shift looks very promising to me and may enable old lenses to be used with AF and IS. This would be...
