About me:

Worked for 40 years, was very active athletically. Developed a Degenerative spine disease which ended all sports but walking. Expanded my long time love of photography( started when I used the darkroom to develop my Work in Electron Microscopy).Obviously that was many years ago. Just a small move to developing my own hobby captures.

  • I understand the OP's sarcasm and his point is well taken. Ignoring the absurd review, the Q is the best high end compact ever produced for the digital market. A joy to be a photographer. The ...
  • Greg, Truly wonderful images, intuitive with lightning fast autofocus. The file size is such that you can crop yet reasonable size for downloading and storage. You will enjoy good high ISO shooting ...
  • Replied in Leica Q Grip
The Gariz Grip improves grip and allows tripod use. The Leica grip has an extra area for a memory card. I found the Gariz to be a well made ,useful addition providing little additional bulk while ...
  • Your Landscapes are remarkable. I aspire to such heights. I am bound to the Q and take her everywhere. These shots are simple and pale before your captures, but we have one thing in common, a love ...

  • Replied in New with the Q
Ralph, Thank You. The D5 is a monster but what a camera! Nothing better for rough working conditions. The Q will feel like a feather. That is a superb kit and with your lenses, I am sure you will ...
  • Replied in New with the Q
The Q if def not weather sealed. My understanding is the SL is the most amazing viewfinder of them all. It is a heavy, pricey beast( for a Leica) Sunsets on the Month, A Q Landscape but well worth ...
  • Replied in New with the Q
Thanks,Appreciate the C&C. I zone develop and the midtones were about where I wanted them . Good point about symmetry. A Hard Rain was taken in a driving rain, did not want to risk the Q any more ...
  • Created discussion thread New with the Q
All, It took me a while to find a Q,finally bought an open box with an intact warranty in like new condition. As a street camera it is a joy. Must say I never connected with a cam so fast. Thought ...
  • As many have stated, there is no easy answer. If you use Lightroom,as do I, basic corrections have been combined into a Q preset. That is a matter of taste. Invariably ,I export ,non destructively ...
  • A fine start. Enjoy one of Leica's finest new offerings. There is a lot to explore within the Q's capabilities enabling you to simply enjoy photography. Cheers,Dennis.
  • The Leica is art. Form over megapixels. Simple, beautifully finished and designed. Autofocus lightening fast. Manual mode like my M240 but the Viewfinder is the best Efinder available. You have a ...
  • My post,to be clear, was directed to the OP Kennethtong.
  • I will give you the benefit of doubt and simply state the best two cameras in this category donot have built in flash; The Leica Q and your returned "mistake". As others have simply stated, you do ...
  • Your problem is one alot of us ,without bags of money ,face. There are many Leica resellers who have Leica certified equipment at a considerable discount. The M-P I purchased only came with a ...
  • Plus one on that. I use the Zeiss on my M240 and monochrome as well as the ILCE-R7M2. The Zeiss blows away everything Leica has put on the table. The Sony is a pleasure to focus but does not ...
  • Certainly overused but Zen is the transformation of work into engagement ,you realize that it has become play, pure enjoyment. And yes, that requires maintenance which sometimes implies repair.Taoist...

  • Ah,my friend,Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
I would not bother to correct you but the term is very important in terms of the philosophy. Take no offense...

  • Valid point, thanks.  There is such dense fog,I left it to Lightroom's auto-correction and it needed manual correction. You are spot on.
