Lens is more important than sensor! And lens in smartphones are bad.

I think my 18-55 kit lens maintains the focus, when the zoom is being changed. i.e., the focus distance stays constant.

Why is the power zoom lens smaller than manual zoom lens?

Metering can be more accurate, if the camera has a crop mode.
