Opinion: Excellent LCD, accurate WB and good contrast tone curve, combining to produce beautiful images without the need for continual post processing. Good easy accessed controls allow you to produce the best shot straight from the camera.
I am very impressed with it overall.
Opinion: I have had the F100fd for about a week now, and found it very easy to get a good image straight from the factory defaults.
It has good image quality and usable ISO up to 800, very sharp lens with no noticable corner softness, quick and accurate focus even in low light. It is fast to start and has low shutter lag, and the LCD is visible in very strong sunlight.
But best of all, it is small enough to have with you at all times.
Problems: The menus could be tidied up and simplified, and a couple of my settings storage provided for use on startup.
The battery life could be a bit longer, although I can get a day of shooting of a couple of hundred images from it.
The rear buttons could be moved to provide a better thumb hold to prevent accidently pressing a button.
Opinion: I have owned the R4 for a week now, and found it very likable. Although it is not fully manual, you can store and use your own tweaks/settings each time you turn it on.
Noise reduction is minimum, which can lead to visible noise at above ISO200, but there is no smudgyness or plasticky look of over done noise reduction, and noise removal software or PP easily cleans up.
The lens has an incredible range for a small camera and the wide angle 28mm looks like it become very handy, while the 200mm zoom coupled with IS, is able to sharply catch very distant scenes.
But for me the small size is what makes all this special. It fits easily into a unobtrusive belt bag and due to its fast speed of turning on and focussing, is ready almost instantly. The low shutter lag make it even possible to catch images like birds landing etc.
This looks like an ideal travel or touring camera.

Problems: With the standard settings, it can occasionally clip very bright highlights in a scene, but I have found that setting a default exposure compensation of -0.3, reduces the risk of blown highlights.
Opinion: I like the camera very much and have not enjoyed photography this much in a long time. I chose the C700 for its small size and 10x optical zoom, but have found more features than I expected. Although the image resolution is not as good as my SLR, it seems to be more vibrant particularly is dull or gray scenes.
Problems: I have had difficulty finding a very small protective carry case due to the lens length. Most small cases are too narrow.
