My first three digital cameras were Canon Powershots G1, G2 then G9. The first did not last long - it suffered a catastrophic power unit failure, and was replaced under warranty by the G2. That camera was the best I had of it's era. Then on to a G9. Still a good camera, but I sorely missed the flip screen. It suffered the same fate as the G1 - catastrophic power unit failure. I was keenly waiting for the new edition only to be disappointed by the absence of the flip screen. Why would Canon get rid of one of the strongest selling points of the G series? Haven't they learnt their lesson from the previous attempt to do away with it? So, now I have to look elsewhere for what I need?
