Ya, rules don't count in these challenges. I saw many state flowers from the USA being entered but the host didn't care to disqualify them and now look, they took higher positions than those who kept true to the challenge rules. I thought a .5 was to be given to those who were off theme? This whole dpreview challenge stuff is getting out of control.

could it be the host is confused between Zoom Lenses and Primes? I use both but I don't refer to my primes as zooms. Now I am confused.

On Countries and their stereotypical flowers challenge (12 comments in total)

With all due respect and the shot is a good one, the Sunflower is not stereotypical of Italy.
The national flower of Italy is a lily white lily or poppy. Are you going to insure people just aren't just uploading nice shots of flowers?
This is actually one of the best challenges I have seen. Very interesting and wonderful to see other countries typical flowers!

I think the voters will take care of that when they pass out .5s. I see what you are talking about. There are many great shots that I will give max score too. Those that submit off topic, I just ignore them or pass them a .5.

Amazing isn't it. This type of photo challenge is open to extreme cheating. I noticed the same thing. I also see 2 other photos that are similar same pencils and colors. Pretty handy way to help out your score but then again, what do you do. You submit a great shot and some will slam you with a .5 score to hurt your chances of winning. Seen it MANY times before and that is sad. No reason for a .5 vote is even required which in itself is sad. I've seen some horrible photos get 2, 3 or 5star votes and I know they were only 1 or 2 stars at best.
Anyway, this whole system is flawed yet dpreview probably can't come up with another method that is fair. Of course we can always get our family members to sign up and vote all 5s too!!
Good luck in your challenges. I have noticed a steady decline of entries in the challenges and I am sure it is a result of cheating and spiteful voting.

Ok so we are looking for photos of this Animal. Please can someone go out and get one?
Definition of BLUE-GRAY

: the offspring of a mating of a white Shorthorn bull with an Aberdeen Angus cow or a Galloway cow, having a mixture of black and white hairs that gives it a bluish appearance and being highly esteemed as a beef animal

None are known to have hair that naturally is blue or green in color although some cetaceans, along with the mandrills appear to have shades of blue skin. Many mammals are indicated as having blue hair or fur, but in all known cases, it has been found to be a shade of gray. The two-toed sloth and the polar bear may seem to have green fur, but this color is caused by algae growths.

This is really a limited contest. So far I don't see blue in any entries.

Well, according the exampls given by the host most should be disqualified. White only means exactly that. Come on host, please advise on this. Are you not going to disqualify the entrants or do you prefer those who follow the rules to complain?
thanks!
I ask this because I have a photo of with a bit of orange and a bit of green along with my main subject and if the rules are getting bent, I would like to enter.
