On Blissfull (Portrait Challenge; See Rules!!!) challenge (5 comments in total)

LOL, I have 5 kids and 6 grand-kids and jealousy is the first thing they learn when another toddler tries to play with their toy(s). They get angry, mad and beat each other over the heads with instruments (toys) and yell and scream and cry and raise all kinds of hell. And we are talking toddler age here. Anyway, it's nice to dream about perfect kids though isn't it? Does the challenge host have any children? I think not, but good challenge none-the-less.

On Pelikan Portrait in the Pelicans and more Pelicans challenge (6 comments in total)

Oops, I see you are using a Canon EF 70-300mm F4-5.6 IS USM? OMG...guess I should junk my L lens. LOL Damn...I shoot Arara Parrots with my lens and I guess I have to work a bit harder to get a better shot.

Would like to know what 300mm lens you used to take this shot if you don't mind. Is it a canon Prime?
My Canon 70-300mm f2.8L IS lens would never take this kind of a photo at full zoom and on a tripod! Most my other lenses are primes which I prefer.
Very nice detail color and composition.

As a second note as a tip to improve on your PS skills, try CS5 to strip the background instead of PS Light room. CS5 is crazy easy and will remove the color tinge automatically. You can see it around the feathers on the parameter of the bird. i would think that pure black would really enhance this photo or a beautiful beach scene with sunset. Also, I see a couple botched spots around the neck area. Great shot but would be printable as a poster with a little better background work. Congrats.

On d [read everything] challenge (8 comments in total)

Ya, "only the letter "D" is pretty plain. I think the problem is many do not read or understand written English. The challenge host needs to keep the rules very simple so those who don't read English well will have an understanding.
This kind of a challenge stating a photo with only the letter "D" is impractical for most anyway. Can't search through your archives for this challenge, you must go out and search the letter 'D" and then do some PP cropping if need be. Anyway, that is my take on it.

On Human's standing in the Spotlight challenge (8 comments in total)

Most spotlights are in the air and can give the appearance of being in front of the performer but there is no way to tell unless you take a shot of the spotlight too. No one can perform in one "overHead" light because the contrast on the face would be scary looking and or unnatural. I think the main idea of this challenge is the idea of how "ONE" spotlight" will cast everything else around them into darkness. I will be judging according the the main theme of this challenge. Anyway, good luck to all.

On Your Best Shoot of the year 2011 #2 challenge (9 comments in total)

Question, Jugal the host has an average placement of 31% and he is running a challenge. I think a challenge host should have to maintain a higher standard than that. i started out at 15% because I submitted a couple photos that were not liked from what I understand, I have worked my rear off to get up to 52.x average placement and it wasn't easy. does anyone know if the challenge host has access to all the photos for downloading? Other countries could use the photos unlike if you were in the United States and without ramifications too. Something sounds fishy with this whole setup. help me out here.

On Your Best Shoot of the year 2011 #2 challenge (9 comments in total)

What the hec is a challenge where everyone's photo is the Best? Go figure.
Must be one hell of a database someone is wanting to put together to have a challenge like this. Just submit your best damn shot and we will have it in our database. I am starting to wonder about these challenges. Where are the photos really going too? Has eveyone marked their photos so they can track them anywhere on the Inet? I would recommend that. There is good software that can search your ID and where your photo is being used anywhere on the INET. Flickr people steal photos all the time and this is a major issue there.

Birds certainly are not a MAMMALS. Mammals do not lay eggs.
Hello? Anybody home? Patchandcrew, are you there? There are some responsibility with being a host wouldn't you say?

Many images have been post processed to be blue. That can't be allowed can it?

Some entries are flat out ridiculous. Spider? Man is not considered an animal either, though he is classified as a mammal. Is there a moderator on board, a theme host?

Direct link | Posted on Sep 15, 2011 at 23:30 UTC as 5th comment

Challenge is to include two "Animal" mammals. Man is Human, not Animal.

Hey Challenge Host...too many people are disregarding your rules. Get on the ball and start DQ'ing like you said you would. Your challenge is not a challenge if you can submit anything you want to...dogs and single images of birds?? Por Favor.
