I think you may be right. The D800 may require the tripod more so than any other camera. I tend to not apply much sharpening to my pictures in post, but I should reconsider for these ones...

Azblue, I think you are correct. I did not do any sharpening in lightroom. I think I will go back and increase the sharpening in them. All of them were taken hand held.

Thank you Greg. This one was shot in a butterfly conservatory in Belem, Amazon, Brazil. I took many pictures, but this is my favorite exactly for the reason you described.
