Batuche: “The lens is the big selling point of the RX100 III. With a maximum aperture of F1.8-2.8 and a focal range of 24-70mm equiv, you won't find anything as impressive on a compact camera.”
Just curious. Why would the lens of the nearly two year old LX7 compact camera with a maximum aperture of F1.4-2.3 and a focal range of 24-90mm equiv, not be more impressive?
Different sensor size.
Marty4650: Look on the bright side.
At least Pentax didn't re-release this outstanding camera in 440 different colors.
I'm still wondering what is gained by putting a tiny ultralight lens on a 740 gram camera. Look at the overhead view... it looks like there is no lens at all. Still, not a pocketable camera! :)
Well, i am sorry but 2 days ago i succeeded to stuff K-5 and DA 35 2.8 (not a pancake lens) in a pocket of the jacket. Not very comfortable, admittedly, and it took some convincing to get it out but there you go. :)With DA 40 2,8 which is a bit larger then XS it was much better but i can't connect to this focal length.
Well, i am with Pentax since 2009 and i never saw so many things announced together. If this super thin lens for K-01 is 21mm that will work on K-5 and if 560 5.6 will provide astronomic quality without astronomic costs i will be very happy.
slncezgsi: A very particular camera. A bit smaller than SLR - but not by much. No EVF (plain strange). Hm. Looks a bit like fat Ricoh GXR. I feel a need to bash it a bit more, but that would not be fair (and there is plenty of that already).
Still - my impression is - if you ask too long for something (without much of thinking what it is actually going to be like) - you may actually get it in the end ...
Maybe I am asking the wrong question - but why should a photographer get this camera over 'normal' DSLR like K5?
But let's give it a chance first.
This camera is much better then K-5 at video thingy. At least according to the specs. It is also cheaper even at launch then K-5 is now.
