I still prefer the film look of 24p... but to each his own.
My first Nikon lens purchase was a macro back in 1972. This lens will be great for consumer-level cameras. Are you ready for close-ups of roses, kittens and dolls. Not me.
Competition is fierce in the camera business. Japan and Germany dominate. China and India haven't come out with anything unique yet. Maybe Fujifilm is considering entering a niche area.
German manufacturers sell high-quality goods at exorbitant prices. They have captured 90% luxury car market (yes, they not only own Benz, Audi and Porsche but Rols and Bentley). As long as we perceive that German products have cachet and quality... they will keep selling us products at twice their actual value. I would buy the Panasonic 20mm f1.7... it is just as good and costs "a lot" less, but then again, some of you feel better with the Leitz Wetzlar brand around your neck.
Will camera phones in the not to distant future have interchangeable lenses (not some cheesy attachment) .... zooms and some type of super-micro four thirds sensors. Will Apple, Microsoft, Sony, Dell and HP become the largest (phone) digital camera and video equipment providers?
Will Nikon, Hasselblad and Canon start selling phones? Will phones give way to some new technology that transmits thoughts, smells... yes, a brave new world awaits.
Honeywell-Asahi Pentax?
Very cute... yes, cute sells... in Japan.
This beautiful camera is another piece of jewelry for the rich and decadent. Precious few will see service in journalism. I would love to have one.
