Peiasdf: So the image is not a PS after all. $1800 is cheap for a FF. Come on SONY, announce NEX-FF before end of year for $1800 or less and you'll win big.

The VG900 is a winner. This year has become incredible blurring the line between professional high end cameras and these lower cost prosumer models.......hacked GH2's and Blackmagic cameras and the newly announced GH3 and these new Sonys are really allowing prosumers to create professional looking imagery at low price points........now if only Apple would implement native AVCHD editing the world would be nearly perfect!
I'm wondering if Canon, Nikon, Pentax etc/nex adapters can be used with this camera for use with adapted manual lenses like with other NEX models.....shoot without lens mounted mode.

Love it....wish it had Focus Peaking and "mic in" for serious compact HD recording....very nice camera.

Mic in makes this a winner....you now have full control of hd video and mc in to produce excellent video along with all it's still photo qualities......if the image quality is near dslr level this should prove to be an excellent pocketable camera.

Agreed- full review sorely missed!!!!

Pricing is disappointing......Panasonic has a chance here to lure prosumers to micro four thirds with high quality glass but if priced at near dslr like prices the enticement wanes a bit......sad really!

I think it's commendable that Sigma does this.
You now have credit towards more Simga products and as a SD owner it has true value......very good move on Sigmas part overall.
A ff Foveon would truly be impressive and I'm sure it's being considered.....good luck to Simga.

No word on video capabilities...looks like a good match for the NEX 7 but no mention of video capabilities have me questioning........is their a live HDMI out, or mic in jack?

reginalddwight: Why release a firmware update that doesn't reduce orbs? Head scratcher.

Most likely to entice purchasers who are considering the X10 but were holding off due to the "orb" problem....a firmware "fix" would be all that's necessary to convince some potential customers that the problem has been solved and thus more sales.
From the samples I've seen, it seems to have NO effect on the orb issue.

SteveNunez: It seems strange how certain cameras are leap-frogged over others in relationship to when they're reviewed...the NX 200 and Pentax Q have yet to be reviewed and their "preview" has been out for some time yet this Panasonic gets announced and reviewed almost immediately- kinda makes you wonder why this is so?

My guess is that some cameras are given priority based on estimated interest levels and others are pushed back due to lesser interest.....I'm sure there are other factors at play, but some reviews are taking very long to materialize.

Andy true but look at when the Q and NX200 were "previewed" and yet neither has a full review up?

Will this have live hdmi or only playback? Also is there a mic in jack?
Otherwise this camera seems great!

On Pentax Q preview (279 comments in total)

Having purchased the camera and shooting with it for awhile it is a pleasure to use. It's small size and build quality causes the owner to want to carry it everywhere thus never missing the opportunity for candid photography.
I've achieved very impressive photos when using manual lenses with adapters. The video quality is quite good at 14 Mbps and opens up quite a bit of tele-video capabilities for those seeking long range videography.
The image quality is on par with the current crop of point and shoot cameras but is underpar to the other interchangeable lens cameras.
If you consider it a point and shoot camera with interchangeable lenses you'd have a good summation of the camera.......for some it will be worth it and for others it will not.

Fantastic news......a bit pricey- but welcome addition for the NEX shooter wanting to use Canon glass!
~Wonder how long it will be before the ebay sellers clone these?~

On CES 2012: Sigma stand report article (25 comments in total)

I'd like to see Sigma also support the other lens mounts such as Samsung NX, Pentax Q, the new Fuji mount etc as less expensive alternates to the OEM offerings. It seems as if only m4/3 and NEX systems are supported.
(read Samsung has not opened their lens mount specs to outside lens makers, shame.)
Thumbs up to Sigma for supporting these new popular standards.

They should have joined the micro-4/3rds consortium and offered up their own version.....in this economy it could have been a great seller!

No mirror-less interchangeable lens camera is very disappointing.......why can't they make a mini-dslr-like camera that accepts a new line of Mini-EOS lenses and offer an adapter to use the current EOS lenses as well.....my wishes for Canon are not being met......sad!
