I think this illustrates well what Ted was showing with his test - it's not just about the ISO number but also the amount of sensor exposure.
  • Fully agreed!! Luminance aliasing is heavily subject dependent and although I'm someone who easily notices it, it rarely occurs in my photography with the Merrill's. Still keen to know if the ...
  • Yes, the translate to English option doesn't work too well!! But, for pixel peepers, the A7R video at about 4.00 shows an interesting 300% comparison.
  • Yes, couldn't agree more, perfect subject matter for the Merrill. Anthony.
  • It seems no matter how much this is repeated it falls on deaf ears LOL!! For the Merrill sensor, if you don't want to risk overexposing the RAW file then choose ISO 200 as there will be plenty of ...
  • Out of interest which primes do you use? One of several reasons that stopped me going the SD route (over the DP) is that I've always felt that there was no suitable primes at the wide end. From ...
  • Frankly I really don't get the bashing comments that say Sigma needs to have this, that and the other - all the bells and whistles. Sigma cameras have a way of working that is highly ...

    Yes.....like it.......:-)
  • Superb......and really needs to be viewed on your site at full res. Highly detailed Merrill photographs really lose something when viewed small.
  • I have a Mac Mini Server 2011 with 4Gb RAM and I find that SPP 5 is pretty fast. Not tried SPP 6 yet as still with the Merrills.
  • With the OP DP image I am wondering what Colour Mode and White Balance was chosen as well as how much altered was the original exposure in post? -- anthonypalmerphotography.tumblr.com
  • The entry on the Japanese Moss Temple seems a quite perfect landscape for the DP2M. I enjoyed all the entries I read from your super blog - thanks for posting.
  • Thanks - the colours are wildly different. Which image more closely resembles the scene you photographed?

I'm with you Scott - I don't find.SPP.(still using v5) slow at all and the bottom line is that is does a fine job of X3F conversion.
  • I think that the LVF-01 actually helps to explain the reasons for the Quattro size, grip and two-handed operation etc…..not that I've tried it. ;-)
  • If Sigma were to offer such a camera than I would say a new mount with an adapter so that new lenses can be made smaller than those for the SA mount.  A similar approach has been taken by Olympus ...
  • This would seem to be ideal if you could mount the new LVF-01 to a tripod and then choose to attach and swap either DPQ camera to it. I've never been that keen on the aftermarket alternatives and ...
  • I wonder how it attaches and whether it will be simple to use across more than one DP or whether it will be necessary to buy one for each camera?
  • For anyone using Merrill cameras I would say stick with SPP5. I am using the last version on a 2011 Mac with 4Gb RAM and it is as fast and efficient as I need.
  • As I recall, the purple and green blotching was pretty bad early on with the Merrill's too but it is much improved now since firmware/SPP updates. I think that over time the Quattro output will ...
