Wildbegonia: Oh boy, here we again, another fun, interesting and full of discoveries challenge.
Agree! That's why I sooooo look forward to Ruth's challenges.
Rule for no previously entered shots makes this difficult, particularly when there are no mantis around in the winter to take new shots of.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. I wish I had a worthy photo to enter but it's not looking very promising with only 2 days left.
Congrats Carmen, you did it again with you fine hummer shot!
jcmarfilph: Great challenge but once again somebody got spanked by idiot voters. You don't vote the brand but the photo. You don't look at the exif and vote your favorite camera. You don't give 0.5 vote to pull down someone. It has been a great pleasure joining your challenges Stevie. This will be my last as I feel voting system is still full of magic.
If you look at the top 10 winners here, several others (mine included) got .5 stars. I've been sandbagged many many times in past challenges but I continue to participate because if all the honest players drop out, all you have left are cheaters and they win.
This is a magical image, wow.
Fantastic macro, congrats Dale, well deserved.
kkardster: Great challenge, but I have to wonder if the couple of truly out-of-focus shots are really the best they've done?!!
If this is the photographer's personal best, then it absolutely qualifies to be in the challenge. After all, the challenge is "YOUR Best Photo...", not "THE Best Photo..."
kkardster: It's great to see the variety of entries here - many that are nowhere near the "superzoom" reach. It just shows how versatile these gems really are while also showcasing what these "pinhead" wonders are capable of.
There was already a challenge for superzooms at max focal length.
There is already a water drops challenge finishing in 4 days...
Brian in Montana: This is just fascinating. I rated it five stars. Very impressive.
Thank you so much, it's a very easy effect using PS or Elements. I noticed I got a lot of 5 stars but also lots of low scores too. I guess you either love it or hate it!
santamonica812: Beautiful, unique, and a technically demanding image.
Well-deserved top finish (I hope that does not jinx you!) :-)
Thank you, it's actually a very easy process. Hardest part is selecting the right image to use.
Nigel J Watts: Challenge starts - Friday, 24th January, 2014 (the time here is 10.30am) - at the moment 45 entries(that's quick)... I have increased the number of entries(from 100) to 110.
I usually don't participate in challenges with over 100 entries. It is extremely difficult to vote on, I don't think I can pay enough attention to each entry it deserves.
One thing you may want to consider is to put a capture date restriction. That would control the number of entries, yet your subject is abundant enough that people should be able to look for a something to shoot.
RuthC: This makes me smile! Ruth :-)
Interesting! I never knew that about the color, I've always wondered whey there are red ones and green ones..... I think they are adorable, cute shot.
EEEEWWWWWW, gives me the shudders, but a great find!
What a beautiful image, such gorgeous colors!
So let me get this straight, this newly born moth is already mating?? Or did the second moth just happened to be there?
Really nice example of the challenge theme. Congrats.
