On Bud of an Aloe plant in the Jigsaw Puzzle#11: Botanical challenge (6 comments in total)
In reply to:

RuthC: Congratulations, ysal, on your well-deserved win in this Botanical Jigsaw Puzzle Challenge. This entry has been leading the entries most of the week, and rightly so. It would make a devilish jigsaw puzzle, with its repeating candy pink and green-striped buds, all the same colour, and all at the same readiness to open. These tall aloe flower spikes are a photographer's delight, and you have excelled here. Ruth :-)

Whoa, totally unexpected! I was just hoping to make it in the top 10. Thank you Ruth, and everyone for your votes.

The Mick: Hello,
I failed to comment as I voted on these, so let me say it now. ;o) This one was my favorite of the bunch! I love the soft, muted tones in the background and the funky shaped leaf is great!
Thanks for sharing.
Mick

Thank you Mick!

RuthC: This is a beautiful capture of a well-named Silver Dust leaf, and it deserves to be in the top places in this challenge. I really like the simplicity of your picture: one single leaf, against the muted silver-grey background of the plant. However, the leaf has such an interesting and beautiful shape, with the softest textural hairs on its surface. This translates on my screen so that I can 'feel' the velvety softness, which is often quite difficult to achieve. Ruth :-)

Thank you Ruth! I'll look for blue spruce next time :-)

Wow 33rd??? This was one of my top picks. Viewed at full size, it's an amazing image. You should enter this in the jigsaw puzzle challenge that just opened. Really beautiful shot.

ysal: I think the key is that your "subject" has to be monochrome. So, surrounding or secondary subjects can be of other colors.

Ah yes. Reading over your rules again, you made that clear, that the whole image must be monochrome. Sorry, forget what I said :-)

Bhimaprasad Maiti: This shuffling had broken the order of submission. This perhaps had been done to influence the voter. If the the challenge owner had some understanding with the D-Preview Forum ,it should be clearly notified as a rule.Otherwise this is becoming unfair .

You should complain to DPR, host has no control over this. In every challenge, the order gets shuffled once it enters the voting stage. Shuffled randomly every time you visit the challenge.
