DAVID MANZE's current gear

Canon PowerShot S80
Nikon D7100
Pentax K-01
Pentax K-3
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR
Decentered, but gives decent results otherwise.
Bought faulty cheaply, VR bugs!
Pentax smc DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR
Pentax smc FA 50mm F1.4
Samyang 8mm F3.5 Aspherical IF MC Fisheye
Second copy, poorly centered not comparable to a Nikon kit lens!
A good solid 60s performer, dreamy wide open, stopped down tack sharp!
At £150 pounds it's a super fisheye, very sharp at F8 and above with tremendous flare resistance!
Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM
Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG Macro
Sigma 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC APO OS HSM
Well centered, this is a great budget super-wide zoom, needs F8 and above at 10mm for sharpness across the frame!
A super sharp gem with few faults!
Super sharp from F2.8 from 50-100mm @ 150mm needs F5.6. Great lens! This is the non-stabilised MKII version
Sigma 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM
Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF)
Decent general sharpness, 500mm needs F8-11 and sharpness boost in PP. Non stabilised screw drive AF F4-6.3 version.
On of the best lens bargains out there, and good sharpness even at 600mm. Very hand-holdable!
An all time Giant of sharpness, IMHO nobody produces a sharper lens in the Pentax bayonet mount. Perfectly centered!
Other gear:
  • Auto Revuenon 28mm 2.8 MC PK Bayonet ALL metal all manual sharp lens for K01
  • SIGMA 75-210mm F3.5 KIII MF All metal lens aperture controled by body MF
  • Star D New York Tripod The Davidson brothers original Star D Tripod made probably in the sixties in the New York factory later the brothers sold the manufacturing rights to non-other than Leica, finally Leica sold the rights out to a Chinese co. who apparently are still making some models today. One the most sturdy tripods ever made! Fully extended it's 2 mtrs high.
