Neodp: Not withstand the efficacy of the update and overall good or not enough improvement(s) then their its a much greater point here....

No one (hardly?) said (possible or not) this camera was deficient in tracking AF or low light comparatively when they were promoting it's first adopter goodness and new pros!

What does that have to do with value? It means you can't know until the camera has been out a while and put through it's paces for the tasks photographers value the most. It begs the question; what benefits matter most? Subjectivity is not a wide... as it is made out to be. Yes there's room for subjective benefits and horses for courses to a point. There no accounting for tastes. Yet that view is completely overblown; from the perspective of new camera design. Yes that should include the user need, that's the photographer that actually takes pictures. Not Gear Acquisition and paper specs alone. There's a lot more to a total camera than that. It's a warning about over priced vanity.

Skipper494: It does not impress me when a company keeps bringing out new firmware versions, means they didn't get it right the three times before. The lenses are excellent, the performance clean, but it's still a 16MP camera.

So with that statement means anything like the Nikon D700 are POS because they are only 12MP. Fuji is the best right now BECAUSE they are updating for free !! With a lot of other companies you have to buy a new camera or pay to get the PRO treatment !

Weasel: Hi, I bought my D7200 few days ago. I am pretty impressed as I am coming from a D200. I skipped the D300 and waited and waited for the D400. I also thought about going FX with the D750 - but this would have been a little bit above my budget as I had to buy new FX lenses too. But yes, I am a little bit confused with the controls and I still have to get used to the new camera as the D200 was a little bit more professional than the D7200 regarding the operation. I haven't got the time to do a lot of testing but the new AF and the ISO performance is great.
And yes, the missing AF-ON button is a little drawback (D750 doesn't have it too) - I still don't know if I am going to miss it as I used it on my D200 only from time to time. I am pretty sure there will be a replacement for the D300s in the future - but I was tired of waiting.

After 6 Nikon bodies and many many lenses, I switched to Fuji XT-1 waiting for the damned D400..........1 year and 2 months later I am back to Nikon as Fuji has said their 100-400mm lens won't be out till end of 2016...coudlnt wait that long as I am heavily into birding. Gonna order up a new 300mm F4 VR with 1.4x TC for my new/refurb D7100 !!

CaPi: I just picked up a D7100 - they went on sale :-)

Thanks for bringing a very good camera into my budget range, Nikon :-)

The new sensors are great but I wont invest twice the amount.. Rather get some nice lenses.

Same here. I can live with the small buffer. Shoot jpeg and 1.3x crop anyway for birding. Tons of buffer there. Single shot portraits like a Pro in Raw mode all day long !! Got mine refurb for $600 from BH !!

Why not let us buy USB to lens connectors like Sigma and we'll apply the goddarn update ourselves. Never seen a Fawking backwards company like Nikon. They want to control us at every turn.........

G1Houston: Most ACR processed pictures look considerably better than the JPEGs. Does that mean the JPEGs in D7200 are not as good as they should be?

When I had my XT-1 I would either turn off NR, or run it in its lowest setting and seemed pretty darn good !

What level are you running it at ?

oliviergaston: I'm interested in this camera and would like to know two things from anyone with experience.

1. Would the pictures be in a resolution and quality high enough to make large prints, like 24"x36"?

2. Would the sensor and available fast lenses give very good results in low light without flash?

thank you

I have a house full of prints in the 24" x 36" variety with this camera. Resolution is exceptionally fine !

Low light performance with the XT-1 and it's fast primes is as good as any Nikon and Canon ................(formerly a Nikonian..)

JeanPierre Thibaudeau: Nice overall but about 120% over saturation in colours and contrast.

Would have to tweak the settings to get something more natural and realistic.

Also, the white balance is off in some pictures, too much blue.

Although in the same category than the EM1, the colours don't even come close.

I'll pass.

Maybe they played with the default settings and goofed them up...
