Adobe's plan is like the state forcing people to rent their homes rather than owning them.

I have to set screen setup > autorotate PB to false to get portrait pictures to automatically rotate to fill the screen. Setting it to true to achieve this would make more sense to me. Maybe this...

Agreed. When I bought the case the salesman demonstrated that you cannot properly close the case with the filter adapter and protection filter attached.

Thank you for posting this. It shows that my close X100s f2 shots that are of dubious sharpness are due to user error on my part. This is good news as I can try to improve, but a fundamental lens...

Thanks Peter, but I can't see it as it says 'Content protected by owner'. Also, I'd be interested to know what sharpening parameters you used.

I was wondering about this. I did focus and recompose, so distance will have changed. However, I would have expected this to make the focal plane a little too far back (as the perpendicular...

Thank you. Sometimes I need to be reminded of what is most important.

I'm still waiting for message to arrive.

Agreed, not a good photo but a family memento.

I am happy to upload the raw file, but not sure where to upload to. Any suggestions?

I took the photo with Astia film simulation but decided it made him too pale. What I posted is an in-camera conversion from raw to jpeg using Provia (which I prefer in this case). I did no...

Brian, Thank you for your helpful, and re-assuring, comments. Yes, I agree that focus would have been better on the eyes. I have a picture of my other son, taken when I was just practicing using...

There is some concern on the web that the X100s is not sharp at f2 when focused closer than about 10 feet. I don't think there is a problem, because this picture of my son, taken close at f2, seems...

It is only necessary to stop down the X100s if the subject is at the edge of the frame. If the subject is away from the edges, f2 is more than sharp enough for a portrait.
-
I have used my x100s for portraits which are sharp and, for my taste, have sufficiently shallow depth of field. This means that the subject is isolated from the background, which is not so blurred...

I don't care what other people use. I just want to use what's best for me. Because something is popular it does not mean it is the best, just that its followed by a lot of sheep.

I wonder what this means. Are Fuji's interchangeable lens X series cameras not selling well, or are Fuji trying to reduce stocks before imminent replacements?
-
It may be that the lens design (glass weight, focus throw, etc.) means that it is not suitbale for linear motors - they are not drop in replacements.
