Honestly I think the all in one lens solution is better for this segment. The current line up of lens's from other manufacturers is less than stellar and really make these "portable" cameras way to large. However I wonder why the G1 X didn't come with an f/2.8 zoom!? The depth of field is already going to be hampered enough. Why offer it with an f/5.8? That's like a f/9.28 on a t3i and will probably be (don't know the multiplier) an f/10.44 on this camera! Good luck getting any sort of shallow depth of field with that.
DUDE! I literally just bought my Spyder 3 :( I guess I can take it back and get the new one :( What a pain in the rear.
I bought one.
I like my 18-135, but it's only $350 brand new. This is $720!? How much better could it be?
anagram4wander2: DPReview should be ashamed of itself.
The JPGs are similar across all the default cameras.
The A77 RAW conversion is using an Alpha version of ACR.
Unless Sony has some magic to make the JPGs look so much different.
This is not a level playing field.
Bye DPReview - That sucked.
people get so worked up :(
I am blown away by the low light / high iso performance of this camera! It bests even the D7000. Very nice indeed.
HumanTarget: Even if the hype were all true, I think the samples show pretty well how pointless this technology except in the case of missed focus, which is the exception, not the rule.
Getting a tack on focus is one of my MAIN issues.
This technology would be GREAT! in phone cameras! iPhone 5?
Why not have auto focus?
