  • You've never needed baiting, Barney. And I'm not trying to draw you into an argument. You do good work, and I take it seriously. It's harder to do that when you undermine it with smug comments in...

  • You'd like to think so. But Barney, this wasn't exactly your first comment in these pages, was it? What compels you to spend so much time in these forums self-consciously...

  • DPR can come off as remarkably defensive and even smarmy, can't they? Especially for an organization that otherwise seems to embrace an appropriate journalistic detachment. You folks cast judgement...

  • Commented on Sony Alpha 7S Review preview

Review in sum: "Average performance in nearly all regards. Gold Award!" Once trusted site is acquired by the world's biggest retailer and becomes enamored with the world's biggest consumer brand....

  • The 85 1.8g is a hugely lauded lens, and I've seen great image samples that justify the love. But I f have yet to find a copy that performs well on either of two D7100 bodes, bodies that seem to ...

  • Thanks, Barry. This is really helpful in that it confirms that the problem probably isn't me. The E-M1 reportedly used PDAF during continuous AF but it seems that they haven't dedicated many ...
  • Thanks for the input, everyone. I haven't used face detection--I assumed it would slow things, plus if the camera is lousy at tracking movement (it truly is), why would I use face detection on ...
  • I haven't tried 9 point. My understanding is that when one uses 9 point, the camera chooses which of the nine to use. Based on what? It sounds kind of like focus tracking except that the shooter ...
  • Created discussions E-M1 continuous AF: Help?
Hey, friends. I know this topic has been covered, but I haven't found a way to get the CAF performance that others claim to get with their OM-D E-M1. I'm all in on m43, having pared down from two ...
  • So is the Panasonic 150 f2.8 dead? Killed by the 40-150?
