what i see is a raise of m42 lens prices ..
oluv: no pancake zoom? WTF?
street photography lens, no need to zoom
thats pretty good for 1600 iso
meh, you guys should do proper review of Fuji x10, when the final sensor clicked into camera.
nice one .. and now, gimme a complete camera review please
MichaelSpotts: Great dynamic range.
do you see any clipping? i am not.
as always, radical pro people and con people .. lets wait for review. At this moment its a waste of time to judge pre-product.
keepreal: Part II
1679550 was taken at f/3.5 and even at this large aperture the definition and lack of chromatic aberration to the corners are very good, so it appears that the lens improves a lot increasing the focal length to 19mm.
This is fairly good performance from a compact sensor for a camera at a fairly modest price. The Olympus C-5060 I bought and passed onto my son is better than this and does have a compact camera sized sensor!. If these shots are truly representative then for a frame approaching APS-C and a price of 700 GBP this camera is rubbish.
Also, the DP Review studio test images are very, very poor. There is next to nothing to judge fine detail anywhere, let alone the corners. Why did they not use something similar if not identical to those before? Maybe a commission from Canon?
I look forward to a proper test, of course.
And Oly is 14mpx for sure too, right? This comparsion doesnt make sense
Well, overall its pretty awesome, but some parts (passage picture) have surprisingly messed details. Anyway, cant wait for review!
Valentinian: Wake up Canon ! Didn't you see the Sony oled EVF ? didn't you notice the Nikon fast plane phase AF ? Don't you see that the time is now for a professional mirrorless large sensor camera? Wait a little more time, and Panasonic, Olympus, Sony and Fuji will take over the market....
I really dont think so. Canon will sell tons of these cameras, no matter how many minor "bugs" it will contain.
Its monday! :)
AvanGarde: What a bunch of whiners ! This is truly great camera. If you buy DSLR you buy mostly with kit which is 3.5-5.6 this G1X lens has longer range (kits usually upto 88-90mm this camera is 112 and only a bit darker on long end 5.6 vs 5.8) now find me kit that starts with 2.8 huh ?Canon basically killed m/4 market and I suppose Panasonic/Olympus with release compact with m/4 sensor.Believe or not 28-112mm is more than enough for most people who would run with shorter kits anyway.I hate to carry lens as most people.Basically you can same as entry level DSLR quality or marginally lower with much smaller and pockatable camera with a bit better and longer zoom than kit DSLR - that's the point of this camera.Win !
Yes, large sensor is big advantage (and maybe the only advantage nowadays (5.6 on the zoom end is horrible feature)), but everything (for most people) depends on price as well. In europe, expected price is about 770€, which is pretty expensive for "dslr-like" camera.
