I use the D5100 from the first day it came out, as my primary camera. Done a lot of tests, shoot a lot of raw+jpeg for a while.
The best word for jpegs is: unreliable. Sometimes they can look very...

Very good explanations, thanks. So the print tab is not actually a print, but just a dowscale of all the cameras to 8MP ? And the screen tab is practically individual pixel quality ? It makes...

I'm having serious problems understanding DxO ratings and measurements, even though I read all about how they test and score etc.
Let's take the D7000 and the new D5200. We'll also see the Pentax...

Yeah, if one side is clearly sharper than the other side, even when focusing in live you, the lens is clearly faulty.
-
Where can we see those tests ?
-
Do you focus and recompose ? That can be an issue. How's the light when you shoot ? Side sensors aren't doing so well in poor light. How sharp do you expect the 50mm to be on the sides ? It is...

Maybe you always have perfect light where you shoot. In the real world, there are many situations where you HAVE TO recover shadows by a 1-2 stops. Like I said, even my old cameras from 6 years ago...

Clean lens and camerq contacts, use a blower to blow the dust from inside the camera (insist on AFsensors area), reset camera to factory settinga. Should be fine. I had some AF problems with mine...

You don't need to do any ,,advanced test,, which will be contested by fanboys anyway. It's plain obvoius that in jpeg Canon does much, much better than Nikon in NR department. This can also be seen...

It worries me that the banding seem to show up even with a +1 EV shadow lifting, which is something I do fairly often. Even my old Olympus 4/3 10MP sensors don't produce this kind of banding.
That...

Nice shot. Hos's the AF working for you ? Maybe compared to other Nikons ? Thanks.

Now that's exactly the kind of articles a good photography gear webside should post more often. A BIG thank you and a BIG bravo !

Very interesting thread. I know what you say about sharpening. Most of images posted on these forums look way oversharpened to me (but people seem to like that). I don't sharpen my images at all,...

D7100 has better noise performance than the D700 for the output 99% of people use. Take any samples you want, from any review website. Post-process them for the output you need. Output. Check...

You know, this reminds me of an interview with Philip Bloom. He was asked by George Lucas to go at Lucas Ranch, shoot some video with his 5D Mark II there, and present the footage the next day....

Check shutter count for your last february 2011 photo with one taken now, that will tell you if the camera was really lost this whole time. You can use Opanda or even Photoshop.
-
Easy, huh ? See what I was saying ? Canon should have done this, not you. Maybe you afford to lose all this time, some don't, especially pro's.
-
I found a blog post once discovering simillar and other differences between cameras from Nikon, from entry level to top of the line D3s. The conclusion was that pro cameras have much more advanced...

I don't think Nikon have that option, good for Canon if it does. Still MFA is not a walk in the park. I did that on my Olympus E-5 (had options or wa and tele) and it wasn't easy at all. Took a LOT...

That's, right, you can put full frame pixels in a 2MP camera phone, the image will be camera phone quality, maybe even worse. Sensor size is what matter, to put it simply to you: What amount of...
