As described you are using the scope at prime focus. The magnification is fixed by its focal length (primary diameter x f/number). To get different focal lengths you can use a Barlow, as others...

Try fixing that starting with a JPG (which is what the OP was getting at.)

Cool pic, thanks. They're common where you have ice crystals in the air, so high latitudes, high altitudes, and winters favor them. You can also see them in cirrus clouds and contrails. 40N isn't...

As others have mentioned this is easy to do in RAW and you get much better control. I do not understand the business of a 6-stack shot and varying opacities, however. My approach is to determine...

I don't mean to speak for everyone but I suspect that I'm like many in that I only use a subset of the full functionality and all of those cool other features are just so much cruft. It's just that...

If that's your primary consideration the GIMP's had that longer than Photoshop (via the "resynthesizer" plugin. I don't know why it's called that either.)
For some reason I have LR, CS5, and the...

So true.
Back on topic. It depends on the lens. I don't know the Tokina 60-300 but I once had a Tokina SD 100-300/4 that didn't get acceptably sharp at any distance until f/11 and even then it...

All well and fine, but there's nothing sacred about the bandpass behavior in the Bayer array, and (in principle, at least) if the array were replaced with one that had red elements with much...

You got a lot of stuff in that photo, it's just a matter of finding them. There are parts of the sky where DSOs really are in the middle of no place (M83, NGC 7293 ...) but fortunately the Big...

Looks like a real nice lens!
Couple questions and an answer.
Q1: When you say "full spectrum", does this mean replacement of the Bayer filter to allow more long wavelength light? With a visible...

Looks good -- I always like that arrangement of the Triplet. Would like to see this with more frames.
-
Looks good. Were you guiding?

These are very fine, thanks. I like the first two in particular.

Great image. One of these days I'll learn to stop thinking of it as the Evil Orb of Blinding and get to know the moon better ...

Very nice. Would like to see this from a dark site. As it is, the full size image shows M51 (both parts), M97, M101, M106, M108, and M109, to name the most prominent.

That's perspective distortion. You could try the Free Transform, but it will make for a very oddly shaped image. Next time don't put people's faces in the corners of a WA shot.
As far as you like....

Anything with a red dot or a CZ label will work great, if you're going to be sniffy about it. Or a red ring or gold ring. No AF or IS/VR but Zeiss (since you bring that up) for C/N don't have those...

is in the OP's signature: "rampant fanboyism".
IMO, unless you're a corporate beancounter I can't see why anyone would possibly give a flip what anyone else thinks or uses.

Very impressive! I do like watching kingfishers but never tried to get a picture as I know that's well beyond my skill level. Even with a much shorter FL lens (400 mm. How big is that 800mm anyway?)

Looks great! Great starfield also, with the OC and EN involved.
