Can I achieve faster focusing for sports if I turn off the Steady Shot function?? I have read in other forums that that non IS lenses are better for sports. I am shooting with a Nex-3 18-200.

This makes sense. I have noticed that the pics I have taken sideways always come out better but the slow focus issue is not solved anyway I turn the camera.I take primarily sports pics of my kids...

Tell him to tighten up his equipment or he will continue to get hit, it looks too loose and unsafe.
