Gary's books are very good value and more than worth the small purchase price.
I had both Friedman and Busch books for the A55. Both have their place.
For A77 and A99 I got only the Friedman books.
+1 from me.
It is a close run thing between the 24-70 and the 16-35 as to which is fastened on my A99 more. The 16-35 is more popular at the moment as it is newer and I am still playing with...
Exactly. It's not the most pretty or effective tool but it works reasonably well and natively handles all content (video is a pain to simply drag and drop). I really like the import only new...
Congratulations on the new camera. The A99 is fantastic.
A great resource is http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/index.asp
In the advanced search on the right hand side, select Format-Full frame and...

Do you or your 'helper' have insurance? Eg home content insurance.
You may be covered that way for accidental breakage.
Sony SAL16-50 - perfect match for the A77. Both weather sealed. Had 4 weeks in Europe in 2012 with this combo and was on camera 95% of the time.
Might lack a little on the reach side but I've been...
I'm extremely happy with my A99. Still learning all the features.
I'm sure you love your A99.
I would like to recommend Gary Friedman's A99 book. Excellent value and greatly...
I use the Sony MC Protector Filters on my 2490CZ (77mm) and 70300G (62mm).
Not noticeable impact on the imagery. Nice and slim. Come with nice cases too. I bought mine from Hong Kong for half the...
Firstly congratulations on the new camera. I love my A99.
Another vote for the SAL2470Z as your first choice lens.
Mine lives on my new A99.
I did a 4 week trip to Europe last year with my A77 and...
What subjects do you shoot?
Budget? Good lenses especially on FF are not cheap. Especially if you are buying the body as well.
Zooms and/or Primes?
On the A77 you don't have to get APS-C lens only....
I got the VG for my A77, and again with my recent A99 purchase.
I usually have the 24-70CZ attached and I find the VG balances the heavy lens nicely. But at the cost of camera bulk.
I do a fair...
I'm another happy F43AM user.
Initially with the A77 and now the A99.
It has a very fast cycle time even with AA rechargeable batteries (I use Eneloops).
Gary does do updates. For the A77 book I got an email notifying me of an updated version to download.
You can email him the errors you have. He is also on Facebook but email is probably best. The...
Gary promised us before the end of March, and here it is.
Reproduced from his email alert.
Dear proud and patient Sony Alpha 99 owner,
At long last, the e-book on the Sony Alpha 99 is now...
Congratulations on the new camera.
I am another very recent up-grader to the A99. I moved up from the A77.
Like yourself, I didn't really need it - definitely in the happy-snapper category - but...
Thanks very much for the feedback and information and clarification on the Tamron 70-300.
I'm in no rush to add to my glass collection just yet. I think the 24-70CZ will do fine for a while. I...
That is an impressive set of glass for your new camera.
I have just upgraded to the A99 too, but only have the 24-70CZ for FF glass at the moment.
I am looking at the Tamron 70-300...
I upgraded from SLT-A55 which I had for almost a year before getting the SLT-A77V in June 2012. Carrying over all the familiarity from the A55, meant that the learning curve wasn't too steep.
Thank you both for the advice.
The Tamron 70-300 does look very good value, especially when compared to the Sony G.
Haven't decided what to do with the A77 yet - there is no rush.
