  • Thanks for the alert re the A77ii book.  I've been waiting too long and ordered it within seconds.  I do have his A77 ebook but I'll happily pay him the full amount.  Perhaps I'll pass the A77 ...
  • Hi Jim Thanks. Now found the refs to Win 8 in the user manual and I'm very relieved.  I had tried to go through it but I got lost very quickly and gave up; I'm not beru clued up re wireless stuff.  ...
  • Replied in thanks to all!
Learn from my errors!  I forgot there are two components to a router - the router and the modem and it's not always easy to find out whether your chosen router has a built in modem.  They "should" ...
  • Replied in Sony A77ii
The manual is pretty minimal but the Sony site now has a better guide on it - not fully comprehensive, but useful http://www.sony-europe.com/support/emanual/ILCA-77M2/en/index.html
  • Mike703 expressed suspicion of some postings praising Panamoz.  I've been on DPReview about 15 years if that helps and I've use Panamoz two or three times, just a couple of months ago for a Sony ...
  • Replied in SSD failure?
I have just had a Corsair Neutron GTX 240Gb fail.  It has a 5 year warranty but lasted under 2 years.  It took quite a few tests to persuade Corsair to issue an RMA and 2-3 weeks before a ...
  • I just bought the Metz 44 with new Sony shoe from Bristol Cameras.  they were the cheapest I found and I've had good dealings with them previously.  The shoe seems a pretty solid fit - but I'm ...
  • I recollect a post a few years ago on this.  Broadly I think the story went like this: An amateur photographer was approached by a Ranger who wanted to see some of his pictures.  The Ranger ...
  • Replied in Galapagos
I have been to the Galapagos - an unforgetable experience! Unlike safaris in Africa etc you don't need a long lens, 300mm is more than adequate 90% of the time. The animals and birds just disregard ...
  • Re Qimage unclogger and power off.  I posted in the Qimage forum and also checked via Google. Older 3880 printers (such as mine) are permanently on BUT newer versions have a  Power Off timer ...
  • I was thinking of Qimage as a possible solution to the long absence issue Wayne was searching for rather than a simple nozzle check.  Wouldn't the request to print wake up the printer?  I have the ...
  • Qiamge Ultimate is an exceptional programme based on printing needs. It indludes an unclogger that can be set to clean at the intervals you choose - taking much less ink than the 3880 cleaning ...
  • Thanks for the various suggestions.  I tried a couple of independent repairers including CRW but neither would do the repair. I'm waiting word from Sony but, if they give a price I suspect it will ...
  • Thanks for the responses. Sadly they confirmed what I thought. I'll give CRW a ring - I had dealings with them some years ago. Not sure what I'll do if repairs are £100 or more.  On a different ...
  • I have a well traveled A700 that my son-in-law is using.  The picture is displaced relative to what is seen in the viewfinder - a bit of the top is cut off.  This happens with at least two lenses ...
  • Assuming the law in Canada is similar to that in many other locations ie you can take pictures of people/animals in a public place/where people should have no expexctaion of privacy.  You were ...
  • I started with Win 7 on my SSD together with my other programmes - allocated to folders according to Windows' desires.  My data and backups are on various HDDs and an external HDD.  I then ...
  • Sorry, I should have been clearer.  I mean 600mm equiv.  Of course more is nice but you it gets increasingly difficult to handle.  I liked the Sony 70-400 because on the A77 it gives a decent ...
  • There is no substitute for a good zoom extending to 400mm or more. On my last safari I had the Sony A77 plus Sony 70-400 - an excellent combination. I have no doubt Canikon can offer equivalents. ...
  • If you do a search under "safari" you should find a host of threads.  They should all give basically the same advice.  As others have said a bridge camera would seem best noting your budget
