Peter62: I had two Nikon 1's: 1 J1 and 1 J2. I bought them when price was acceptable (€ 199 witj kit zoom). BUT:

I sold them recently, because they're simply not good enough! Low resolution, high noise!

Now I own a new SONY NEX-3NLB wjich really (!) gives me DSLR-quality in a similar small package! Fantastic camera.

Nikon, dump the 1 series and come back with an APS-C mirrorless. You can!

Is there just one good lens for the Nex ?
Do you like the relation between paperthin body and coke can sized lens ? me not, then fuji has the better concept but suffers from AF while the Nikon 1 has the best and fastest AF i know.
In fact there is no ideal system currently, if MFT would switch to 3:2 Sensor size....

rarufu: Nikon Managers listen, because you did everything wrong at the beginning:
You choose the wrong sensor size initially - now Technology has changed and sensor size is not the limiting factor anymore - GO ON AND IMPROVE THE SYSTEM !
There has been a high class model (V1) but no good lenses, now there are good lenses - GO ON !
The 1 System should be better looking, lighter and smaller, significantly cheaper than MFT, why is this not the case ?
The V2 is too expensive & too ugly - the 14MPSensor worse than the 10 MP, did you not see this by yourself ?
The 1 RAW files are great if you develop it with capture one 7 - IMPROVE Capture NX and put it for free in the camera box !
The JPG engine produces boring images - improve it.
Add up to date functions and components.
If you want to have success create something unique.

Ps: The 32 1.2 lens is absolutely SENSATIONAL, why is there no marketing for it ? Let the engineers design the cameras they love - don't cut or restrict them.

You do not own the lens, otherwise you would not write such stuff.
I had MFT and Fuji X before, and no 45 1.8 of olympus can come even close to that 700,- Euro Nikon 32 1.2.
It's worth every cent.

At least i am writing only about things that i have used.

MFT has a big problem too, the 4/3 format itself leads most enthusiasts to use 3:2 crop mode and waisting pixels.

Even the otherwise great Panaleica 25 1.4 for 550,- is far slower in AF and does not come close to the 32 1.2
It is a very special lens !

reginalddwight: Nikon should stick to their strengths....enthusiast and pro DSLRs.

Look at the recent missteps with the 1 Series and Coolpix A.

Late to the CSC and high-end, large sensor, fixed lens market, Nikon have a lot of rethinking to do.

.

Looks like you have never used the 1 System, i threw everything away but my D800 and V1 with 10 2.8, 18.5 and 32 1.2 lens - absolutely amazing.
Guess which system i am using 95% of the time ?

Canon, i am afraid, that the times, when masses bought big and heavy DSLR stuff, are almost over.

I would not buy those again and people running arround in the city making silly photos of street cafes or of themselfes seem to be poor dinosaurs.

Second: Will those split phase detection pixels make photos better or worse from the quality aspect ?

Good luck anyway.

On Adobe releases Photoshop Lightroom 5 article (253 comments in total)

I was full of anger and frust when i heard from that CC stuff, it simply means i will not be able to get new versions of my beloved photoshop anymore.

-We all know why they do it.
-We all know they will ignore criticism for a while.
-We all know they will change their mind if people will not follow that CC stuff.

Do you really need to go on with this bashing again and again ?

I bought the Lightroom 5 upgrade because i like the new tools, i will never ever join the cloud, if everybody that is not a full professional does the same, Adobe managers will learn that people want to buy the SW as usual - but do not want the CC abo.

Dont get more and more outraged, be patient, at the end they will have to give up.

Direct link | Posted on Jun 11, 2013 at 19:39 UTC as 25th comment

Some folks outside are writing, that all those outraged guys here would just cry because they cannot use pirated versions anymore, why ?

If i read at Adobe CC:
2.5GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation.

So even the CC version is writing it's basic stuff on the harddisc - right ?
If is is written on the HD, what keeps the crackers from unprotecting and disassembling and removing the relavant SW switches ?

I cannot see any higher level of piracy protection of the CC version here, why should it be safer ?

Reducing the prices for younger people and hobbyists may be the best piracy protection.

I know lots of people dealing with PS but me, all my friends and colleagues really BOUGHT Photoshop, i have spent 950,- Euros last year and now they are treating me like this !!! what the hell......

Unbelievable how undiplomatic they act.

Direct link | Posted on May 17, 2013 at 19:28 UTC as 30th comment

The people wo are complaining loudest are the ones who never had the V1 in hands.
I am really happy with the V1 and can't wait till the 32 arrives.

Thank you Nikon for not going the usual boring way and giving us a lightweight dreamlens ! I am so happy with this announcement.

The V1 is a phantastic camera, didnt want to like it but now i don't want to miss it anymore.
Only cam to get playing children sharp - with the 18.5 lens i got 90% absolutely sharp face with nice background bokeh, playing, jumping, running, the AF just dont miss it.
The ability to shoot with down to 1/16.000s is better than any ND Filter and allows using f1.8 in even the brightest conditions.
Must develop with CNX or Capture One 7 to get real good results.

I wonder if and when there will be a reaction from ADOBE
All i saw was that they promoted the new gadged Mighty - a drawboard to be connected with ?..... THE CLOUD - what else.

Those guys seem to really like this cloud stuff, i only hope that the security management of those cloud servers is more than perfect - otherwise the clouds may become very dark someday.

The simple photographers here on earth would like to continue to work with your photoshop product, please give us some reasonable offers and overthink your cloud ideas from out of space.

Seems i have to thank you all, i just bought paintshop pro and i am really amazed because it contains all i need for retouche, liquify tool, makeup/skin retouche, eye whitening, teeth whitening, crop tool....
I did not know that before - a big thanks to Adobe also for waking me up.

RAW conversion is done before by CNX or Capture One 7 which is my favorite due to it's great demosaicing and detail rendering plus leading adaptive denoising which sets all my Nikon Cameras 1 class UP.

Do i really need Photoshop CS6 ? i guess NO, does Lightroom give me all necessary abilities as a very enthusiastic hobbyist, that wants to become a professional ? NO.

Direct link | Posted on May 11, 2013 at 01:10 UTC as 198th comment

Adobe did not enhance the RAW converter for a long time, no better demosaicing, no better colors, no better adabtive denoising, instead more 3D stuff and gimicks nobody really needs.
The lack of real innovations made CS6 less interesting, who wants to pay 1000,- for 1 or 2 silly gimmicks when the old stuff still works and RAW conversion can be done better elsewise.

Adobe
- Give us real innovations
- Make a better RAW conversion
- Sell the SW for a better price for ENTHUSIASTS (which you seem not to like a lot)

The people you are looking down at are your CLIENTS, they pay your monthly salary.
