Replied in Pentax First, Canon and Nikon Soon
Someone needs to invent a sports finder that attaches to the hotshoe. It would be optical, of course, and have lines defining various focal length lens coverage.

Replied in Unrealistic Expectations From a Bride, That's Never Happened
Yes, and another problem is during the interview you show them some of your best work, right? And they expect to get as good or better, in spite of being late to the church, not having the dream...

Replied in Strange post..
Ditto - I don't buy a new camera because it is newer or more expensive, I buy it because it has modes and codes that my old one didn't, enabling greater creativity in my work. My new a35 is much...

Replied in Meet SWAMI
I posted this a while ago, but it seems appropriate here.
I sometimes try to create a mnemonic device, or acronym, to help cue the memory before an important shoot or section of a shoot, because...

Replied in Some notes on the wedding photography item.
A few people in the blog underneath the news item mentioned the Bridezilla effect, but not many delved into the emotional aspect of doing a wedding.
I just finished one that I put my heart and...

Replied in Say no to A77, if you care about image quality
The worry beads can get a little silly sometimes. I just shot a wedding with my a35. I would emphasize two main points:
If you have obtained a new camera recently, practice your brains out with...

There are settings for the EVF just because of this problem. I went back to Auto on the brightness, and that solved it.

Replied in The biggest problem with EVF, why I am reluctanly preffering OVF A77
I just tested my a35, and after it went into standby I half-pressed the shutter button and it turned on like right NOW, like hitting a light switch.

Again I say unto you, it would be simple for Sony or any aftermarket company to make a sports finder or other OVF that you can attach to the hotshoe. This would be great for birders or sportsters,...

Replied in The biggest problem with EVF, why I am reluctanly preffering OVF A77
Can't let this go unchallenged. What cameras do you have? What happens if you leave them on and don't use them for 5 minutes?

Replied in My first week with my A35...
My a35 is sharp as a tack. I have done tests comparing it to my a100 and the resolution is amazing. All lenses.
Another thing - this camera has a manual focus abiltiy second to none with the...

Replied in The biggest problem with EVF, why I am reluctanly preffering OVF A77
The switch is ON, but the camera has gone into standby - or off, after 30 seconds to 3 minutes, whatever you have set. In that state, you can wake it up again by half pressing the shutter release....

Replied in The biggest problem with EVF, why I am reluctanly preffering OVF A77
Isn't it kind of hard to catch something like a bird in flight with your camera in standby anyway? What if you had an a900 or 580, your camera was in standby, and you tried the same thing. What...

Replied in Sony A35 - External Bower Flash
That is precisely why you need to practice with various situations and get to know your equipment before attempting an important shoot. I get surprises all the time. Sometimes it is as simple as I...

Replied in And you think 36 MP is a lot
Whatever you are talking about, they would have to also come up with a 1.8GP lens to equal that kind of resolution. Lensbaby won't cut it.

Replied in Sony A35 - External Bower Flash
Not exactly. If this is a metering problem due to the white wall, then exposure comp would correct the problem and keep the ratio of lighting between flash and ambient the same. If it is a flash...

Replied in Sony A35 - External Bower Flash
OK, let's first do a manual white balance.
Next, because the subject has a white wall behind it, you are underexposing big time. Need to dial up on the exposure comp. Just exposure, not flash...
