On Nikon announces advanced WR-1 radio remote control article (25 comments in total)

Another ridiculously priced remote from Nikon. Why do they put so much effort into these un-needed gizmos? They need to get off their throne and do a deal with Apple. I'd rather pay for an iPhone than this thing. File this one under GPS-1.

Nikon can put GPS and Wifi in cheap throwaway cameras but not in professional grade ones.

Makes you think they are dedicated to gouging you for grips, GPS and 800 buck wifi transmitters doesn't it? Cue the Nikon are God defenders.

Five bucks of asian electronic skit marked up by your photo dealer that should be included with your $3000 dollar camera. Tell them where to shove their D800 grip too.

JuanSu: I'm sure "Best" is different for everyone, but I choose the "BEST" for me and that was the Nikon D800. What an amazing piece of photographic and technology! it's changed the way I pursue my photography and has made it fun in whole different level. Great other choices in this list, but this one made it tops for me.

But it's the chip that makes the camera. It still lacks wifi and GPS like others. The body itself brings little to the table other than enabling Nikon to sell a D700 with a big chip in it. And a very expensive grip.

However it's done more to change imaging than any other camera this year for many people.

How it can be THE BEST CAMERA in 2012?

Because Pop Photo says so LOL

When people are trading their systems and changing the way they work, 36MP is the biggest DSLR story of the year. And Hasselblad knows it.

This all smells like Pop Photo's "There is no bad lens" SQF baloney.

If it's possible to wear out a photo that old Afghan one would be it.

Garbage. I'll give you $299 for a f2.8. Providing it's better than the 25 year old Canon and Nikon offerings.

fberns: Feature-wise a great camera.
But the viewfinder is lowest entry level!
And the viewfinder is one of the most important parts of a camera, isn't it?

Made the D70 Camera of the year. Worst camera I ever owned. Worst viewfinder I ever used.

L series lenses for kit bodies just doesn't sound right. Like Nikon putting a gold ring on everything now.

Their old lens and bodies are still superb.
But, what's up now?! $850 for a 35mm F/2?!

However Nikon like to get 2 grand for their new wide primes.

On Accessory Review: Manfrotto 294 Carbon Fiber Tripod article (50 comments in total)

25 years ago carbon fibre was an exotic material used in small quantities for things like audio tone arms. Today it's nothing but a profit generating rippoff just like what Gore-Tex used to be.

The people that keep paying the price keep that price so high. I bet today an aluminium tripod is harder to fabricate. Don't fall for the CF ripoff. Whether it's warm or not LOL.

Looks like a great opportunity for Really Right Stuff to sell lots of tripod rings. Unless Nikon's has GPS or Wifi or something built into it we don't know about.

Mssimo: When did 1024 x 768 8" screen become "low-res." This article needs a new title. It may suck for photographers but for other reasons like its crap 5MP camera and low storage.

You should be able to fit several 1024 rez pictures on your new 3.5 floppy discs. Have these forums really tanked now?

You have gotten in line for your 40 dollar adapters haven't you?

That is so funny. I bet Hasselblad are going to have to buy an awful lot of drinks for people at the show.
