Don't forget that the supplied lens hood reverses for storage on either of the two kit lenses. Thus it doesn't add significant bulk to your [quasi] pocketable kit.

This is not entirely correct. At both Adorama and JandR you can get the 17mm f2.8 'pancake' in a kit with the E-PL3 body. (Black body and lens finish only, as of this writing.)
