I've been pleased with Acratech for many years, I'm not surprised it performed so well.

The baseball shot is very impressive. That being said, I'm underwhelmed by the others which are noisy and look like they're from a $100 point and shoot.

On Connect post Nikon says it wants to 'change the concept of cameras' (135 comments in total)

Interesting how Nikon has continued to grow in the ever-decreasing space of compact cameras.

And the silliness of the oil on their sensors (of the D600) is no different than the left focus problem of the D800, and the autofocus problem that plagued Canon pro cameras in the previous generation.

Nikon sales have held firm in the DSLR space, still running second to Canon but far ahead of #3 Sony--which has been losing market share.

Impressed with the quality--although I've been impressed with the quality from my D7000. I did an engagement shoot last weekend using the D7000 and D800E. Except for shots where I used really shallow depth of field from the full size sensor, the quality of the D7000 was still impressive considering the 20MP difference. The D7000 was also faster (not having to move so many pixels has some advantage).

My Nikon D800E continues to amaze me, although I love the portability of the Sony RX-100 and RX1.

Danel: The image quality looks good, but not as good as the Sony NEX-7. I'm a bit underwhelmed. I was expecting the Nikon to show a little bit of an improvement over the Sony camera, but I'm not seeing it. Perhaps Nikon wanted to save something for the higher end cameras when they get this sensor?

Looking at the RAW files, I find the output to be on-par with that from my NEX-7 and kit lens.

I thought the shots looked quite good until I saw one and said to myself, "Well, that ISO 1600 or 3200 is just so-so..." only to do a double-take when I saw it was actually 12800.

I'm impressed to say the least.

Was excited about the A-77 until seeing these. I wonder if the NEX-7 will be much better?
