4 Aspherical and 5 SLD glass elements shows that it probably is'nt easy to design such a fast zoom.

I might be completely wrong, but it sounds like you might have spot metering on one camera and matrix on the other.

How sharp can lenses get for a certain format, i read somewhere that currently the best lenses are within 10% of theoretical maximum, with current materials. Wild question: 50mpix sensor on FX, can...

This would interfere with auto ISO and its set shutter speed i believe, which is in my opinion a better choice, since most DSLR users try to keep still when taking the shot in the first place.

I shoot with a D3100, while it may lack features and its own features are for a newcomer, it has all the important photo controls it needs like PASM and changeable lenses

I do not know how you can base an opinion like that with your experience of "hours" , i am financially out of reach of the camera, but what you say from what i read is simply unbelievable. I do not...

Too bad it is not a constant F4, that way the price would have been more in the affordable amateur territory, and smaller size.

Oh and i must add, manual focus would be fine, but metering from the lens would be a must. I'd like 12mm or wider, used or new.

This is very true, there are way too many people who judge sharpness in the comparison tool, it is not a lens tester.

I'm interested in buying something wide for my D3100, however i rarely have the need to shoot wide, but occasionally i get the urge to do so. Therefore i thought about perhaps a fisheye prime,...

I'd go with the D3200, you get microphone support (i think) and some other things they took away in the 3100, and in my opinion having a good Denoise tool is just as important as the camera ISO...

I believe the studio comparison test shows the tests at pixel level, to compare them i would view D3200 at 14MP as the D3100 is 14MP, then the D3200 might have an advantage. If it is worse at pixel...

If you for some reason fail like i did with the wiring, it should still work, i managed so snap the wire, i heard it is some grounding cable, but i dont know its purpose if it works fine without it.

But wouldnt it be better to apply sharpening in PP instead of in camera, or is it different?

By half press i assume you mean autofocus from pressing the shutter button? If so, does the camera attempt to focus and will it beep in AF-S mode with sound enabled? If yes, and the pictures come...

The diopter wheel is to make the viewfinder info LCD and focus points seeable by near and far sighted people, if the pictures come out fine it probably does focus correctly. How is live view, same...

This might sound really weird, but is there some sort of actual physical limitation in lenses so that the density of projected light on a small sensor becomes so small that it starts to "leak" into...

I agree about the 35mm being the best choice since it's 50mm equivalent. However it also depends on the size of the rooms you have if you shoot alot indoors. The 85mm 1.4 for example costs alot...
