Jens_G: I really really really hope Sony have nailed On-sensor PDAF.

It might be time for me to upgrade from the trusty old Nex 5 to a Nex 6, when that's released.

It is likely going back to DSLR's size.

starwolfy: I just Hope this camera will fail and not sale because I don't like Sony.
(a guy who remembered he bought a super small nice wow genius NEX who electronically failed after 2000 exposures -_- )

That's the real truth of Japanese products. Be realized!

CollBaxter: This is a nice release from canon. Its where most of us expected it to be with a first entry. Canon have ticked most of the boxes in this offering. It does not have the all features of the other MILC systems (But no camera has). There seems to be a lot of ‘noise’ about lack of features buy some posters , but then trace ‘noise’ back to where it came from. If canon had released this camera with a EVF and a few other DSLR features we would have had a lot more ‘noise’ over at the lower canon dslr forums as well as in this section.

I am not a canon users so I have nothing to protect. This is a nice offering from canon for its intended market. The future ? Well that’s really going to be interesting.

Right ...CollBaxter :XD

Compact camera concerns me as a pocket-sized body for my top priority. Definitely I use it as a point and shoot purpose. Keeping it in trousers' pocket does not mean compromising on picture quality. The DSC-RX100 was honed in aluminium with big sensor and bright lens for better pictures. The bulky compact camera that can only be handled or carried always like a tourist is not counted for me. Even the quality is almost the same as SLR like its size. If so I trade off carrying the SLR.

On Pentax K-01 preview (376 comments in total)

Sergio DS: Pentax has an amazing RAW (and JPEG has a matter of fact) engine on their cameras since the K-x (and switch to sony sensors), but after seeing the level of detail the new 24MP sensors are capable of, I won't be cashing in for anything less (High ISO can bite me, I seldom go anywhere north of ISO 1600...)
Regarding the K-01, I think Pentax didn't went far enough (I actually like the looks of it), If the point was making am entire different camera they could've gone for a cube look or something like a cross between a video cam and a Lytro... Not having a swivel screen on a non OVF cam is a deal-breaker, they could've capture a huge following if they just tried to make a more forward thinking video/stills camera, and leaving room on their line up for a conventional K-r successor...

K-01 is mirrorless not DSLR camera. Keep in mind!
(from Q to K-01)
(from nex-5 to nex-5n)
That's the step up.

Anirban Banerjee: Samsung makes good cameras spoiled by the wrong choice of lens mount :-(

I prefer they use E-mount the same as Sony NEX version.
