Have a look there, very valuable tips for the V500 : Scanning with the Epson V500  It does not seem to be that bad, quite nice up to 8" prints If you want bigger and a flat bed scanner, than a V7x0...

Yes with ink jet and photo matt quality paper ( black ink choice is greyed out), but with plain paper you have the choice, only remember to choose photo black as it will set matt black by default.

Does it measure exposure using the full DX view, or only the 1.3x cropped view ?--JJ.

I do not print much really, but haven't noticed any thing worse than before .....

I have FW version P0079C which is more recent than P010C5, but I have no idea what's changed. I can also enter directly into Maintenance Mode by Cancel + PO, but nothing more than regular Maint...

It's usually the laser printers that come with "starter" cartridges.

One rarely needs both wide horizontal and vertical together, so if your WA end is not wide enough just take two portrait shots (or three ...) and stich them together, and added benefit you get more...

I was referring to prints with dye inks too but did not know that GO was only for pigment inks, well indeed my prints with InkThrift are already so glossy that no GO is really required, but UV...

Joe, What would be even better is to find optimizer that also filters UV ..... ;-) So no need to hide die prints behind glass--JJ.

Don't know the Mac world at all, but for modern digital photo editing the first primary upgrade is real memory, if your Operating System can address beyong the 2 GB barrier than upgrading to 8 or...
