Although I don't recommend switching systems between Canon and Nikon other than for lens preferences, let me say, welcome to Canon. :)
You are aware of the DR difference between two cameras (I have...

And how is it going to be 123 years from now?

Agreed.
Wide angle is a must even if you don't shoot wide too often.
I took 24-70, 70-200 (with FF) to China couple of months ago. It was perfect.

6 months!! Your pictures are better than many doing photography for more than 6 years.

OMG! What did you just say!! ;)
All of us familiar with 135/2 immediately knew which one was taken with it and which wasn't just by looking at the bokeh. Of course there is 'much difference'...

I think first shot didn't need any shadow lifting.
On the second highlight recovery looks good, but not the shadow lifting.
On the third, Peter pushed shadow too much, maybe 1/3rd or half of what...

Just to elaborate on my previous comment. Processing is a matter of personal taste. I don't think that we always need to 'real' as far as color goes. To my taste I find the non-sky-blue in #4 and...

I like the second shot. I think its sharpness, composition and 'interestingness' (birds' relative positions, postures, wingspread etc) are pretty spot on. Larger view is needed to appreciate the...

PhotoNinja is like no other. Once you have given it a serious try it becomes your main RAW converter. It easily does things, such as highlight recovery, detail rendering, difficult color noise...

Yeah, the tone curves are similar. But if you use similar tone curves then resultant JPEG images are likely to be slightly different between cameras with different DR. Using 'neutral' in D600 and...

Nothing against JPEG shooters. They just have less DR to play with, less processing headroom, but if that's what they like its their preference. When I said 'it could be a problem' I meant shooting...

I don't know what to think, I have not used D800. Just quoting one of the Nikon shooters who shoots only with Nikon D800 these days. You will find his opinion in Nikon forum. And please don't quote...

Never imagined shooting the back of a lens cap in my life. But a thread in another Canon forum made me curious.

So, I thought let me try as I own few...

It depends on how you define 'smartest'. I felt nauseated after visiting science and technology forum for couple of days. Small bunch of know-it-all guys competing with each other for showing off...

Higher DR is about the potential of needing to use it when needed. If someone who only uses JPEG then it could be a problem if he or she likes high contrast pictures. But for RAW shooters higher DR...

Couple of points.
AA filter does make your pictures soft, strong ones will make up to 30% softer compared to if you didn't have a AA filter. This has been proven by those who actually have removed...

Lovely set. You have a great sense of composition. Color selection is cool in some shots and not so cool in others, but that's totally a personal preference, you don't need to change. I actually...

Great job Kevindar. Background makes it even more beautiful.
