Hi Mike
I think you are just pushing the gear to its limits..and thats showing in the cropped shots..

Hi Dave
your image reminds me of my younger years growing up in Kent...you dont see many bluebells in Australia..so thanks for the image mate..just what I needed on a friday morning...
-
I have to agree..looks pretty ordinary to me ..soft or motion blur/camera shake..or all three !!

might be that gearheads are trying to get in front of a potential 24-70 upgraded lens from Nikon..if it ever comes ?
-
-
isnt this the reason we have a exposure comp button....isnt the reason behind having a advanced DSLR so you can make your own mind up on how you want the shot to look ?.. relying on the camera...

LOL..its always hard to part with gear..I just sold a 17-35..now wish I hadn't..but i never used it !!
EXDS. gives a valid point on finding it harder to get a prime at 200mm...i couldn't consider...
-
if I had no lenses..Id pick a 24-70 over the 70-200..but as you have the 35 and 85mm the question is a lot harder....in you situation and if you have a real need for extra reach..id buy the 70-200...

$300 a bit steep for a used 1.4TC..Id have thought $250 would be more reasonable..a new one can be had for $339 from DWI includes shipping...
-
if I were you..Id buy the cheaper 1.4 tc and the money saved from not buying a 2xIII ( about $160)..id put towards a 300F4...you have longer reach..and a much better optical unit ( with TC s). and...

while the tilt shift image has created a larger DOF..its thrown the center part OOF...just look at the leading top edge of the green shorts in the TS image ... what's the benefit of that ?
-
gee thats a truly significant difference between the 5dIII and the D800...
-

-
