Morgan David: All great, exept for the cheating picture 6 that most certainly is not shot with a smartphone.
This DOF is not achievable with the size of the iPhone sensor.

I don't think anyone in this thread said that shallow focus is a superior way to make photographs.

Thanks, I was thinking exactly the same - no way the DOF is achievable with an iPhone.
I also don't think the moon in #9 is real.

cxsparc: The totally differently sized crop for the Lumia and Sony compared to apple due to the different resolution renders the visual comparison more or less useless. It would have been better to set the lumia to an equivalent resolution for this purpose

You can set the image size to "print", to have the same size for all images.

chromnd: Is it just me or did you forget to put the link to the gallery in the article?

I use Firefox 22 and also tried IE10 with the same result.
Should I see the gallery after "here's a look at what the Lumia 1020 can do."?
That's how it looks for me: http://i.imgur.com/c9zGT0g.png

chromnd: Can someone please explain me how this lens is used? I know aperture and focal distance. But I see 4 rings on that lens which seem to be somehow adjustable. The first one (left to right) looks like aperture, the second one like focal distance. So what are the other two rings good for?

Thanks for the explanation!
