What's wrong with you people? The NEX5n only came out in Sep 2011 and you're already planning your upgrade?

M4/3 lenses can't cover an apsc sized sensor, which is why they can be smaller. Sorry.

Commented on Olympus OM-D E-M5 Preview preview
It's strange that you are "really disappointed" with the sensor size. Did you expect them to change it or something? That doesn't make any sense. It's like being disappointed that a compact camera...

They will work with an adapter. The only limitations are you'll have to use stop-down metering. Does anyone know if it'll have focus peaking? Sorely missing from m43 vs NEX for manual focus lenses

What does that even mean? If you're talking about depth of field, the larger the sensor, the shallower the dof for the same aperture

The viewfinder is live view on a small screen and since live view comes straight off the sensor, it will be stabilised

It says you can use it with a wifi transmitter. Not sure how good this is, but I guess it will allow tethering not just facebook uploading or whatever

Replied in Linux/Open source Takl Forum request
I'll have a look at the digital darkroom. I do still think there is room for a Linux dedicated forum as a lot of people are put off using it because of it's seeming difficulty and it would be a...

Thanks very much! I've already ordered some third party inks recommended by a previous poster, but I will keep my Canon cartridges and try a refill kit next time!

Created thread Linux/Open source Takl Forum request
Hello all,
I've been using a digital camera (d200) for a couple of years not after using film. I am also an avid Linux/Open source fan. Browsing through these forums I see the odd mention of...

They are good open source options, digiKam is also good. The trouble atm with GIMP is that it only works in 8bit per channel, so loose a bit of colour info (they are working on a 16bit...

Replied in Dye-Sublimation with low cost per photo under 1000$
I see, well with a calculator I just worked out it would take 6708 prints to make up the difference between the most expensive and the cheapest printer. If you are trying to make money out of this...

Replied in Replacement Printer Advice Please A4 or A3 ?
I have a Canon ip3600 which makes great a4 prints- the main cost is inks. If I were you, and depending on how many a3 prints you might produce, I'd send anything over a4 to be printed in a shop....

Replied in Dye-Sublimation with low cost per photo under 1000$
Why do you want to spend $1000 on a printer for 6X4 images? What are you going to do with them? People who only want 6X4's might not be able to tell the difference vs. a cheaper printer.

Created thread Recommended third party ink cartridges for Canon ip3600
Hello, I have a Canon ip3600 printer which gives me prints of a good enough quality for my needs. I now need to replace the cartridges, and obviously they are very expensive. I've already thought...

You're right they do now make Has lenses, which used to be made by Zeiss, now THAT says a lot. On a smaller scale, they also made the Has X-Pan which shot 35mm double frame panos and was made of...

Commented on Panasonic shows 12-35mm F2.8 and 35-100mm F2.8 concept lenses for Micro Four Thirds news story
I'm not a m4/3 user, but I would have thought long primes are where it's at on these cameras. You can use old mf lenses, or 4/3 (non micro) with the autofocus adapter- there is a 50 f2, 150 f2 and...

Yes it does. E5 is a 4/3 (NOT MICRO 4/3) body. It's an slr with bigger lenses. There has been talk (amongst enthusiasts) about a pro m4/3 body for a while. I think Thom Hogan predicted and rooted...
