It's quite the opposite. The entry level D40/D3x00/D5x00 don't have the motor, they need lenses with BIM. So the lens will only AF with advanced Nikon bodies.

It's screw drive, not bad with the A77 even better with the range limiter of the A99.

Tamron letter codes:
M=Minolta A (=Sony A)
S=Sony A
N=Nikon F
E=Canon EF
P=Pentax K
A08M and S fit, no differences, M labeled lenses are likely pre 2006, S post 2006. The only difference is the box...

I would also go with the A37. I used both for a short time. The only advantage of the A35 is the screen. The A37 brings electronic first curtain shutter, is more quiet, has focus peaking, tweaked...

I have noticed the message on the A99 as well. I found that it appears when you accidentally hit the "C" button (in front, above the lens release button) with no flash mounted. It is set to "FEL...

The first thing I did when getting my A99 was selling the grip. I used the grips on the A700 and A500 for a while but never really liked them.
On business trips and casual travel I take the RX100,...

I had the same issue and brought it to a local camera repair shop. The owner dug through his scrap box and scavenged one that matched. If you have some old film bodies and defective lenses sitting...

This is not my idea of a fix.
1) you lose the ability to backup data with the second slot (I shoot jpeg on 1 and RAW on 2)
2) duct tape leaves a nasty residue after some time and the adhesive can...

While the Minolta 20mm is good, I like the 24mm better, sharper, geometrically better, less prone to flare and very compact. As mentioned, both are moderate WA 30/36mm equivalent on crop, good for...

+1, the same happened with my 24/2, they replaced it w/ a refurbished lens for free. Call them before jumping to conclusions based on info posted on their online system (in my experience not always...

I thing you are correct, this is an issue with all Sony bodies. IIRC the 2 parameters that cannot be changed are Japan model / rest of world model and PAL/NTSC video. They are part of the fixed...

Correct:
The wheel pushes down the tab/lever pictured on top, engaging the locking feature.

-
The 44AF1 (and other Metz flash models) has a thumb screw which pushes the locking feature down. The locking feature is similar to the Sony flashes but the thumb wheel also provides additional...

I had the NEX5, later 5N and switched to the X-E1 with the 18-55 and 35mm lenses instead of going for the NEX6 which would have been the logical alternative.
Personally I see 3 major reasons for...

I have a couple of the Wasabi chargers bought in the US for different battery types and have used them on trips to Germany and China with 230V. You may need an adapter depending on the outlet prong...
-
I haven't tried the car adapter yet, but it should charge about the same rate, since the car outlet can deliver more than enough current to charge such a small battery.

This is why I ordered my kit from B&H after being on the fence for a while. The body should be about or slightly under $2000 after selling the flash and VG and considering the $167.88 gift card.
-
Optically they are the same, Tamron has a 6-year warranty (US) and is considerably cheaper. With the $400 less than the Sony you can pick up a nice prime.

I tried the Kenko 300 DG 1.4x, results were OK when stopped down to f/8 (5.6). At that point I knew that the Minolta 100-300 APO would be the better choice. AF slows down quite a bit, so I would...
