On Flowers in My Room challenge (29 comments in total)

Dear folks,
It has been a very difficult situation for us.
To do justice to all the participants and to conform to the challenge theme we have disqualified about 75% of the entries.
Hope for the voters the task is now bit easier.
All the inconvenience caused are regretted.
Regards Admins

EvokeEmotion: HOST: Plenty of entries that show nothing but the flower and some leaves, yet they didn't get disqualified. Enforce your rules consistently, please!

working on this.

jojosardez: "Where do you keep them inside your house ?"

Should the picture contain more details than just the "flower" itself? Because there are some entries which just contains a picture of a flower and some seems was shot outdoor.

The 'My room' part is important.
Outdoor shots / only flower shots are being disqualified.

scooper1: Does this mean cut flowers or growing plants?

any of the two will fit in. but that growing plant must have a flower that's it.

Jaysun: My first 1st place in a photo challenge! I don't know what to say. I didn't prepare anything.

I'd like to thank all those that made this possible. Praise be to Nikon and Adobe. without you guys, I would've been nothing. I wanna thank my mother, my supportive girlfriend, my kids, and my two cats. Most of all, I'd like to thank the lizard that frequents my bathroom window while I shower. Thank you all! :)

CONGRATULATIONS !
Hope this moment returns many times in your life.
:-)

JamesWG: As I read the challenge, I read through "YOUR" window, which I understand to be what you see when you look out of your window. I also took it to mean looking out and from a place you live, work or visit often. Not just any window and certainly not looking into another person's window.

Your point is valid and I agree to that.
But, for the sake of seeing photographs more in number and better in looks we thought of banking on the broader meaning.
Cheers !

Wildbegonia: I disagree about writing notes or titles for that matter. Photography is a visual language in itself therefore, it should speak on its own without the need for words/notes to support it. Someone said in another challenge "you should be able to express yourself with images, leave the words for writers" No?

Dear friend,
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
My words are '...and try to guess the traits of the personality.'
It is just a request to read the photograph and not to read anything else :-)
Happy clicking !
Cheers !

Wildbegonia: Saswata,
It is very nice of you, but IMO I would put a cap on 50 at most 60, and open another challenger version II at a later day. It makes it a easier task for voters (I am talking about DP members, not Facebook) to go thru each and everyone and give fare justice and attention to each entry.

Point noted.
Was also thinking on this note.
From next challenge it will be lesser number of entries per member and the cap will be smaller.
Thanks for mentioning.
Cheers !

Clemens Roether: Huge number of entries should not qualify because they do not follow rules. Do you place only the qualifying entreis up for voting? Thanks.

I am going by this Wiki definition of 'House' :
'A house is a building or structure that has the ability to be occupied for habitation by humans or other creatures. The term house includes many kinds of dwellings ranging from rudimentary huts of nomadic tribes to complex structures composed of many systems.'

Disqualifying only those which are grossly ignoring the definition.

Images by Kipper: Saswata:

Your Challenge “Where I sleep”, I am assuming does not have to be the photographer’s place where he/she sleeps? The reason I ask is that I have a 17 year old that can make his bed look as if a hurricane has gone through it and I would love to see his face when I show him my entry. Believe me it will not be a staged picture but what we as parents are faced with every morning as we give him his ‘Get your Butt Up and At It’ talk, advice, suggestion, pleading…….Anyway I am sure you get the picture and I will submit the evidence if you deem it acceptable.
Thanks ~ Kipper

Hey Kipper,
Definitely we are not talking only about the photographer's place.
Looking forward to see hurricane-bed.
:-)
Cheers !

jpmalohesr: Just an observation for the host; 38 doesn't divide by 3 evenly so someone could get short changed... This assumes, of course, that all entrants want to post 3 photos..

Point noted jpmalohesr
Soon the limit will be raised to 200.
NO, to 201...
:-)

This challenge is also filling up fast... thanks to everyone submitting.
