Its hard to compare any lens to a macro lens, since that lens will be extra sharp. Its not the same type of lens.

Be sure and look at the Tamron 24-70 2.8 as well. I like it better than the CZ 24-70 i had. About half the cost new as well.

The 012 is on all of the lens. That is not the serial number. The serial number is up against the focus band directly above the name Sigma.

B&H did have them in stock. Not sure now, but you can check.

I had the 16-105 on my A77, and it was a good length all around. Not too long where the long end suffered. After the 16-50 arrived, i never really used it again. Is this a full frame lens?

I have it. Very sharp, and fast focusing. It also works in the A99's AF-D mode as though it was the Sony 24-70 lens. Very happy with this lens for almost half the price of the Sony.

Ryther Camera are fine. You should have no problems with them. I have purchased a couple of expensive lens in the past with no issue.

If weather sealing is really important, you may want to look at Pentax, as alot of their stuff is this way.

The new 70-200 OS lens i just got is stabilized from Sigma. It gives you an on/off switch on the lens.

Perhaps flat to the body means touching the body. Parallel is a better word then.
