I have extensive experience with Capture One, and while I prefer it to ACR/LR, it is no match for Photo Ninja. I say this having run numerous head to head comparisons. I also take issue with...

Anyone who cannot see the superor output from Photo Ninja is either in denial or needs an eye exam. And this superiority holds for other cameras and sensors as well.

I highly doubt that the distortion correction profile is embedded by Nikon, at least for raw files. Regarding Photo Ninja, if the software recognizes the lens, then creating your own profile is...
-
No, I think that people become attached to a particular workflow and don't want to change even if significantly better results might be obtained. I accept the fact that for many photographers,...

Absolutely correct. I have been using Photo Ninja for about 8 months with files from a Sony RX1 and a Pentax K-5 (sorry, no Fuji). I have run more comparisons with ACR than I can count, and there...

Actually, Photo Ninja has a lens distortion tool that allows you to create a custom lens distortion profile for any lens that is recognized by the program. It is very easy to create a profile and...

The Pentax FA31 costs about $1200 new and the Sigma 35 about $900. A used FA 31 will cost less. It is a legendary lens that is much smaller and lighter than the Sigma. My point is that the OP...

The obvious choice for an "all purpose" compact walk around lens is the FA31/1.8 Limited. The 43mm equivalent focal length is ideal, IMO.

No such issue with my RX1.

Elliott,
I feel that I did not convey the addictiveness of the RX1 clearly enough. Once you become accustomed to its IQ, it is hard to accept anything less, and that most definitely includes the...

Elliott,
My guess is that you do not have an RX1, because if you did, you would not have assumed that it would be a backup for some other camera. It's not impossible, just highly unlikely. :-)

I am currently on the fourth day of a 19 day excursion to Argentina, starting in Buenos Aires, and so far, I have used my RX1 exclusively. It is a real pleasure to carry a camera that is so small...

After trying various configurations, this is what I have come to, and it works very well. The beauty of it is that you do not have to refocus with every press of the shutter button.

Are you using the live histogram when taking pictures, and if so, does it show overexposure?

I chose number 2, because I still have a DSLR with a variety of lenses. However, the RX1 is what I use about 95% of the time, which means that I could easily live without the other focal lengths,...

My previous favorite was the Contax G2 with Zeiss G lenses. Man, that was/is a great camera, and I only wish that Kyocera had developed a digital version, rather than killing off the Contax brand....

I'll toss in my opinion, having just upgraded from a K-5 to a K-5II. The K-5II's great advantage is its very precise and consistent autofocus. My K-5's AF has a tendency to wander, resulting in...

All of my photos are on external hard drives, RAID arrays, to be exact. But even if we all transfer image files to each new computer that we get, do we really expect our grandchildren and their...

The RX1 is definitely a niche camera that is not suitable for everyone who goes ga ga over the IQ and the small size. So there have been people who sold or returned theirs, but not many of those...

I think you overestimate the likelihood that people will repeatedly migrate their image files to keep up with evolving storage technology, and this is even more true of future generations, who will...
