I think it's too early to jump the gun. It is clear now that IBIS will not be offered in E-mount at all. I think this will be the major differentiating factor between A and E mounts.
-
The A77 is a much older camera and on sensor PDAF has been implemented on the A99 (more as a supplement to the regular AF system). The A99 is also older than the Canon 70D.
-
I think A-mount will be around for a long time. One of the advantages that I see compared to E-mount is the diameter of the lens mount. E-mount is like 46.1mm while A-mount is 49.7mm. Not only...

A better bang for the buck would be the Tokina 20-35/19-35 3.5-4.5 lenses. They were pretty cheap back then although looking at Ebay prices now, they are priced like they were new, lol.

The Minolta 24-105 has been well regarded since the Minolta film days, so its not really under rated by any means.
-
I have the Minolta 50mm 2.8 and a Sigma 105mm 2.8 EX. Both very sharp lenses. I also have extension tubes that I experiment with other close-focusing lenses to get 1:1 ( or close).
This pic I...

He didn't say film was never sharp. He said film was "never THIS sharp". Meaning digital was just sharper.

electronic first curtain shutter not compatible with the lens? Having old Sigma lenses is like flipping a coin in compatibility. What works in a past model may not work with a newer one.

I usually MF for macro shots but once in a while I will use AF. Some things I found out that makes AF acquisition a little better:
- use a tripod.
- be aware of the AF sensor orientation (if they...

EVF also shows 100% and high magnification, which you don't get with OVF unless you go with expensive pro-level cameras. EVF will also show the effects of the metering mode/exposure compensation...

This is something that I've been reading for a while now, that the wireless flash should be in a "line of light" with the master flash/onboard flash...but I can actually fire a wireless flash...

For static subjects, just put it in AF-S (single) or AF-A (auto).
It might also be hard for a AF sensor to grab into subject detail when its too far. Try wide area AF and AF-C. With different...

This Metz model can be firmware upgraded via USB. Check the Metz website for firmware updates.

The Lytro already has this technology, where you can select the focus point after you have already taken the picture..https://www.lytro.com/camera

Another factor that I was thinking about that maybe harder to measure is the design of the lens itself. Each lens is unique. The glass may have a curvature that facilitates a shallow DOF wide open...

Here is a good discussion over at the Pentax forums:
http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3281887
Basically, this is the best analysis from a poster:
"Don’t use F stops to judge the DOF, when...

So fulll frame = 100mm
APS-C = around 67-70mm in order to be equal to 100mm w/ full frame. (x1.5)
Did they check with separate lenses or did they use the same lens?
-
But then you have to realize that 100mm lens at APS-C 1.5x factor, it becomes a 150mm..and at this focal length, it will have shallower DOF.
-
I think what was forgotten here is that the DOF of a full-frame camera will be shallower than an APS-C crop sensor at the same aperture. So i don't think the pictures were soft, the point(s) of...
