On onOne Software's Perfect Effects 8 available for free article (117 comments in total)

I installed it A-OK on Win7-64. It works A-OK both as a stand-alone program and as an add-on for Elements 11. IT was nice how it found Elements and hooked itself up to that with no user intervention required.

Overall the software works well and has a usable interface. But it duplicates functions already available in the Topaz filters, and my sense is that the Topaz ones give more concise control and also have a slightly better (although similar) interface.

Based on that I'm sticking with the Topaz stuff. But for people who don't have that or want an all-in-one package, this looks like a good option.

Linus M: Nice panorama if it was not for the three quite wide dark vertical lines from the middle to the right of the picture. Somehow there seems to be a glitch in the in camera Pano software.

On close examination it looks to me like there is one real radio tower (the left most image) and 2 ghost images of the same tower to the right.

Hopefully the final firmware will fix this. If not, there's always PhotoShop.

On Canon announces Pixma Pro-1: 12-ink A3+ printer article (54 comments in total)

Well OK, but...

1. What about roll paper feed - will it print panoramas longer than 13"?

2. How much does the printer cost?

3. How much does printer ink cost?

4. Can each ink color be bought individually?

Well it looks like those of us who own GH1's are left out in the cold. Booooo to Panasonic for this.
