I would agree that this issue is probably the most glaring shortcoming of the ultra-compacts. I honestly don't know if it's a technological limitation thing, or simply the manufacturers saving cost...

At $35, I think the Franiec grip to be a far better investment. I've found this sort of protective "shooting" case to be not only unnecessary, but obtrusive as well, for the ultra compact cameras....
