not that expensive actually ... when consider that 5 scoops of the Golden Opulence Sundae cost about a thousand bucks ..and we are talking about an ice cream here .... something that can hurt your stomach stillness easy. Sell your house, sell your kidneys move your kids to a public school in North Korea and soon you will have that cash !

If this delivers, Canon Cinema EOS cameras are dead.

On DxOMark examines lenses for the Canon EOS 5D Mark III article (60 comments in total)

... "The average sharpness scores of the Canon EOS 5D Mark III matched the Nikon D800 and if the results were based solely on the mean average, the Canon actually out-performed the Nikon.!! " ... and more ... " Providing the camera is matched to specific lens models, sharpness can even exceed the Nikon D800 !!! Well .. well ...

gothik: Anybody here kind enough to share a comprehensive review of this lens please. Im using a 300f4 with a 1.4tc on a 7d and was wondering is this lens would be an upgrade to the 300. Thoroughly confused and need some help. Some sample shots would make it perfect :)

Regards

Hello "gothik"
I've used this lens for a wile, and honestly I was completely blown away from its performance specially wide open at 300mm f/2.8 .. on a full frame body! Immaculate center resolution and very, very acceptable mid and extreme corner sharpness. The auto focus is quick and silent. The Canon 300 f/2.8L IS USM II has the upper hand in many areas in comparison but the difference in the optical performance is hardly unnoticeable in almost every aperture settings. On top of that the price difference between the two lenses is so dramatic as you know! Good lens .... amazing in fact, but .... damn heavy and not very useful as a handheld tool because of that . This makes your old EF300 f/4L lens quite a bargain !!! Keep it if you do not miss the fast f/2.8 aperture ......

Even the little G1 X from Canon showing better image quality in comparison and even better low light performance than this mirrorless Sony ... check the test results for yourself.

Poor little VN520. Olympus should call it instead .... "ephemera520" .... Sweet!

Well, ... you may hate it , God knows why ( after all your baseless observations does not hold much ground dear mirrorless fans ! ) The truth is that nothing can beat the accuracy of optical viewfinder ...so relax, accept this fact, and when this little miracle called SL1 hit the shelves, ... be there just to feed your curiosity ... and who knows, you may buy one .... or two .........
